Paddel shifters

Do you think you could order a manual but have the shifting done with paddel shifter by the steering wheel. I mean its not that much harder and besides they do it for CLK and SLK`s

Paddle shifters are only for the automatics...I don't see how you could have a traditional 3rd pedal with paddle shifters.

No you can't cause paddle shifters have double clutches so it can shift gears without steping on the clutch.

I wish the W 204’s had paddle style shifters mounted to the steering column instead of the +/- feature on the shifter. It seems like you can get paddle shifting on everything from a new Mitsubishi Outlander, Acura TL Type-S, Some inexpensive econo boxes, but not on an entry level Mercedes? A couple of things need to be standard in our segment. 1) Paddle Shifting 2) LED Taillamp/ Brake & Indicators 3) HID Headlamps, The “Smart” feature should be the option. 4) Memory seating for the driver seat. I’m ok with everything else on the car.

Well I mean look at the BMW 545 a semi-automatic but look at a the new 3series coupe they come with paddle shifter. I think it would be an easy thing to do since they do it with other models with 7 gear logic so I wonder if u special order a car for ED and put that as an option for alittle more $$

You can change the wheel to an AMG style with the buttons on the backside. There are a couple of extra lines in the slip ring assembly. You would loose the ability to have a heated steering wheel, and you would need somebody with the smarts to code the CANbus to shift from the wheel.

For the Australian market, paddle shifters on the steering wheel comes with the AMG appearance package (cross drilled front brakes, paddle shifters, sports pedals, 3 spoke steering wheel, AMG bodykit and wheels).
We also get electric memory seats as standard on what you guys call the
C300.
And if you spec the car with the bixenon option LED rear turn signal also comes with it....still not for brakelamps unfortunately.

Same in Sweden / Europe.

Plus, AMG sport seats, AMG sport exhaust, AMG sport suspension, AMG floormats.

Do you mean the SMG they put in BMWs? That isn't a "true" stick shift, there is no clutch, still just gas and brake. It is like a manual where you can shift through the gears but still no third pedal. If you're talking about a TRUE stick shift complete with three pedals, there isn't a way for you to have paddle shifters because the clutch pedal is what disengages your transmission from the engine and that physically needs to happen, can't be computerized. With SMG, DSG and regular automatics that have paddle shifters, everything is still controlled by computers.

You see if they can make it for other markets then a special order from the USA should be no problem. Oh and yes I am talking about the SMG no third pedel.

In UK if you order the Advanced Agility option you get shift paddles. I suspect when the Advanced Agility comes to US in My2009 you get shift paddles with that option too.

Paddle shifter

<<No you can't cause paddle shifters have double clutches so it can shift gears without stepping on the clutch>>

You seem to be confusing the 204 with an Enzo.

The 204 paddle shifters duplicate the left-right motion of the automatic's shift lever.

installing paddle shifter for manual tranny is impossible. i guess anything can be done with money, but i don't think anybody will dare to take that route anyways.

in big picture, there are 4 different types of tranny.
1. manual tranny
2. auto tranny (with or without paddle shifter)
3. sequential gear box (ie. SMG from BMW, DSG from VW/AUDI)
4. CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission, what Nissan Murano uses)

having said that, i don't think retrofiting paddle shifter will be hard. but it will be costly because you will need to buy new non-NA version steering wheel which will have mounting holes for paddle shifters. and I believe you can re-use the air bag from NA to non-NA steering wheel.
from there, you just need to tap each paddles to +/- of gear selector.
