Timing on the fog lights not synchronized?

Timing on the fog lights not synchronized?
Wondering if anyone has noticed this...
I noticed this earlier in the evening when I was parked infront of a glass door and was able to see the reflection of the headlights and fog lights in the glass.
I have the lights set to auto.
This is about 7PM in the evening so its already quite dark.
I start the car up. The head lights turns on.
I put the car in Reverse (to back out of the parking space) only the right fog light turns on?
Then After I put it into drive did the left fog light turned on.
I doubt this is normal... Anyone noticed this on their cars?
When I unlock the car however, both fog lights and parking lights will turn on simultaneously.

I thought i read that the fog lights when making turns will go on the direction you turn steering wheel. Not sure if thats what happens in reverse?

If I'm not wrong, the fog lights work the other way round when the car is in reverse. This means that when you turn the steering wheel to the right when reversing, the left fog light will light up.

You guys are right. Thanks. I guess I should of read the manual more carefully. 
if the light is on Auto, then the fog lights will turn on as soon as u turn the steering wheel one way or the other. Sort of a "poor man's version" of adaptive headlights eh?
