Updated results again next month. The more owners participate, the better the information we can provide. Especially need more 2009s and 2010s.

Updated results later this month.

We're going to start providing new stats for the odds of requiring no repairs and the odds of getting a lemon. These require larger sample sizes, so additional participants would be helpful. Especially need 2009s and 2010s.

For the details, and to sign up:

We have updated results for the W204 C-Class to include owner experiences through September 30, 2009. In terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2009: 45, about average, small sample size

2008: 40, better than average

We've also introduced, two new statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds," to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop.

In the case of the 2008 C-Class, the percentage with no repairs is about 69, and the percentage of lemons is about 3.

Nada-odds and Lemon-odds car reliability stats

Everyone who has been helping, thank you, once again. We'll have further updates in February and May. With more participants, we could provide more precise information and cover all model years. Especially need more 2009s and (once they're available) 2010s.

It's what happens when you think "W204 C-Class" real quick, and don't have a way to edit later.

Just enhanced the related repair history survey so that it can (optionally) be used as a personal car maintenance record.

As always, more participants would be helpful. Especially need more 2009s and 2010s.

Updated Car Reliability Survey results in May, with a preview for participants in mid-April.

Starting this month we have a new question to measure, as objectively as possible, the severity of a problem. Many people have been asking for reliability stats that weight problems by how severe they are, and once we have enough responses with the revised survey we'll start providing this.

Also this month: updated reliability stats.

Lets all help Michael Karesh in this quest. Sign up and update your stats every three months (only if there has been a non-service repair). Surveys will come via email every 3 months, if nothing outside standard maintenance has been done, either no reply is needed, or only a mileage update is required.

Needed are more 2010 W204 owners, the sample size is statistically too small to be a significant sample. Help with this important independent survey to get the truth about MB quality and reliability.

Thanks, Bill, I appreciate this.

To clarify the system:

1. Emails with links to the survey go out each month, in case there has been a repair. I've found that people find it much harder to report a repair off the top of their head if more than a few weeks have passed.

2. If no repair, all that is needed is an approximate odometer reading following the end of each quarter. This takes most people about 30 seconds. Reporting a repair takes a couple of minutes. The typical newish car requires one repair every two years.
