IPOD via AUX port

Don't get the IR remotes. There are RF and bluetooth options out there. That way you can close the glove box. You can be creative with where you put the remote on the central console or by the armrest or wherever. There's one controller I've seen that can be attached to the steering wheel as well.

finally got my monster cable to use my AUX input and it works perfectly fine .. .sound is crisp and clear and I am totally loving it. A little white cable hanging from my glove box, but who cares, it's alot better than the $400 option. Happy camper here!

Aux input
I had a Aux input installed in my W203 and it works perfect and sounds great. I have the HK audio system and I'm sure that helps a great deal.
The major drawback on the IPod kit and my reason for not going that route is that as soon as Apple changes it's plug configuration on new generations of IPods, you will have and outdated system. They recently made a change on the IPhones, and chances are that will carry over to the Ipods. Using the audio jack give you other options as well such as laptops and Iphones. As I understand it, the Ipod kit is limited in it's menu and functions anyway due to the small display area.

did someone say wireless remote for ipod? anymore info? i thought the one apple sells require a dock of some sort?
I'm using the aux in both my 203 and 204. it would be cool tha i can just toss the ipod in the glove box and still be able to control it and see what song is playing.
ipod integration kit sucks. it doesn't read chinese or japanese which are pretty much what i only listens to.

i dont think the ipod integration is worth it with the crappy hack they made to make it work on the little display in the speedometer.
when they get UMI on the C class it could be though. I read a thing about it for the GLK and I guess it works on the 5" display and also includes a usb jack for usb flash drives, and bluetooth stereo streaming.
Supposedly it will be retrofittable

I do not think Apple will change interface ever. Certainly it will prevent consumer to upgrade to newer iPod. So loss of Apple will be bigger. So what Apple can do, just improve exisitng inteface keeping backward compatibility. Like Microsoft always delivers new version of Windows keeping old programs running.
