I am guessing the taxes play a big role in the Canadian's higher MB prices, Canadian government collects a lot of taxes to pay for their public health plans and welfare etc, even the shippings/postage prices are insanely high

We're talking about MB's cost to sell a vehicle in Canada vs. US. Since the origin of the vehicles are German, the rules of NAFTA do not apply. Even if you buy a new one in the US and try to bring it back (let me know if you can), you'll still have to pay tariffs. Only products made in Canada, US or Mexico are exempt.

I think you can import it but I can guarentee that MBcanada will make it hard as possible for you to import it
with the new incentives with leasing and financing on the C the difference is quite a bit less.

C300
US
Duty $2,143.50 (at 6%)
+$1,500 in certification fees
=$39,368.50
CDA $41000
but it's only 750 you get back, the difference would quite a bit more on the more expeinsive vehicles

you have to pay for a registration fee
pay for the certificate from the manufacturer
pay for the inspection
and make sure everything's all up to code
