AFAIK the C mode launches the car in second gear, whereas S mode launches the car in first. Also, there are two reverse gears so I think C uses the higher gearing.

2005 C Wagon (No snickering please!)
C all the time, S uses first gear. That gear is so steep it should only be used for climbing trees.

So when the transmission is described as being 7 speed, they are saying that there are 7 forward speeds including 1st gear that isn't used in "c" mode?

Yes that is correct but I do have to point something out. It is possible to get the car into 1st gear in C mode. The car starts to move from 2nd gear in C mode but you can force it to **** down to first. Say you are at a red light waiting for it to turn green and you are in C mode. When the light changes press on the accelerator gently and have the car move. When you are up to about 5~8mph press down on the accelerator all the way. The car will shift down to first gear to accelerate more quicker. Of course you will look like a dork trying to street race and I can't imagine this being good for the car either but it is possible.

I've seen a white with tinted windows and personalized plates but that's it. Probably the same thing as when I first got my e90. Had it for almost 8mo before I saw any others on the road and then there was an explosion.
The only other C300 I've seen in Seattle was a silver with a old lady (her hair was the same color as her car) driving down 3rd Ave.
