good idea, but i bet this would be pretty complicated and nothing like swapping the hard drive for an external hard drive or something for your computer... would probably have to have a dealer go in there and open eveything up, or you would void the warranty probably

As far as I know, the hard drive has 30Gb, but you only get 4Gb free to Mp3. For those who buy the MM package, you get also de aux-in, and a usb input, right? I've asked this in another post, but nobody answered. I'm wondering if it is possible to connect one external hard drive to the usb input, and use it to play Mp3? That would be better than the Ipod integration kit, because you would control it in the command knob, and see the content in the main screen. As anybody tried this?

How do you take the hard drive out??? I Pushed the button next to it but nothing happens. I forgot to ask this at dealers so will have to wait till tomorrow. But can you help? Plus i did not see a USB input. I will check again tomorrow but i do not think its there.

dont worry , I found the answer. You have to push it twice to take the card out. My manual is in dutch and i do not speak dutch. LMFAO , yet i figured it out.

so you can take it out....but might not be able to swap it out....I guess only time will tell before somebody does it....I might try it....I'm pretty savy with computers....depending on the file system I should be able to image it and put it on another drive with more space for mp3s

I tried to take it out by pressing the button next to the slot. but even after pressing it twice i can not take the card out. How do you take it out ??? lol I guess i have to translate the dutch in the munal word by word

and about the files you can copy. Yes you can use the computer slots ( if you have them in your tower ) the card readers, then you simply copy the files over.

i wil be so furious if there is not card in the slot. It should have one. I am thinking i do not have it and have to buy one.

I'm talking about the built in hard drive that you can save music to....I bought the 6 in 1 card reader (researching hard drives) for the PCMCIA slot.....it works great though...I use it with my SD memory cards

hmm obviously i am at the wrong track here. So there is a build in Hard drive and there are PCMCIA cards you can use. So how to copy music to hard drive if you can not take it out??? through you DVD or CD?

the drealer i bought it from was not good in english and i am not good in dutch so that caused the confusion for me.

nope. you cant for sure. cose first the MM only plays DVD and does not know about DIVX or other Video formats. Plus why would you want the movie on your hard drive.

the hard drive is god knows where somewhere in the electronic system buried in the dash.... good luck finding the hard drive and then good luck mirroring the drive to keep compatibility with your navigation....
this is no easy job, and you guys dont even know if the hard drive is proprietary and will even work with the standard ide or serial connection internal drive you can buy at store...

yah i was confusing the PCMCIA with HD. I thought they both are the same things but no they are not. when i said i was trying to take it out i actually was trying to take out the PCMCIA card which obviously was not there. lol.

dude, yes... wrong track.. no hard drive will pop out with a button... that is the memory card...
