Should there be more to the Ipod connector?

Should there be more to the Ipod connector?
I just took delivery of my new C350 with multi media and Ipod interface. I noticed that the Ipod interface is actually more like a charging aux port. Am I missing some thing? Is there any thing else it should do besides skip and back on a track or album it is already playing?

My iPod Integration Kit is being installed at the dealershop.
They are also installing an extra amplifier (part# 204-870-39-94) with this kit to resolve the huge volume difference that has plague earlier build cars. It's only a $20 part, but it should greatly help with the common complaint about the loss of sound when the iPod is played.

What you've got in the glove is just the axillary input for the audio system, not the iPod Integration Kit. If your dealer had told you otherwise, then you should go back to them. The actual kit, as someone has already posted, interfaces with the iPod's dock connector and will allow you to control the iPod via the screen in the middle of the speedometer.
Enjoy your car!

Ipod
I do have questions about the Ipod. Can the Ipod Integration Kit installed by the dealer? or it should be factory-installed item?
Because my dealer told me that there is a C350 with the exact specification that I wanted, but it doesn't have the ipod kit. He said that he can put one on it there. I just dont want it to be done by the dealer if it's supposed to be installed by the factory.
Thanx

When the dealer was showing me the ipod adapter I recognized the bootup sequence pop up on the ipod and it is exactly the same as the Dension Icelink splashscreen I had on the BMW. I'm thinking that Dension is now the manufacturer for MB's ipod kit. It may be exclusive now meaning you cannot buy the option aftermarket like I did for the BMW.

In Canada, the dealer can have ipod integration installed when car arrives.
They charge $895 CAD+taxes but said he can do for $749 CAD, I still thought it was quite price, since my video ipod is worth half that amount.
Didn't think go ahead with it.

The only reason i did not buy the special IPOD integration kit was cose its no use for me as there is no album art displayed on the MM screen. This kills it.
Normal AUX will connect my ipod to MM anyway if I need it.
I rather burn DVD and play me mp3 songs there. 5GB of mp3 DVD is a lot already plus you can use voice command to change tracks . sweet !!!!
( Dats only upto track 99 )

My dealer threw it in n/c as part of the deal...don't think I'd pay $749 for it.

Yes, $749 CAD is pretty hefty, I spent that money on tint & 3M clear bra instead. Maybe for $450 I would of considered installing it.

Can someone enlighten me on this Ipod kit -
I am sure I have it, but the only thing I can do with it, it to press the up and down arrows on the steering wheel to switch songs? I can not see anything else other than the name of the song being played on the speedo, I cannot change playlists, I mean, I have 1000 songs on the Ipod and this doesn't make any sense to me! plus the songs are like in random orders... $375 for this???

If so, that just doesn't make sense if you have hundreds/thousands of songs and you can't zero-in on a specific song.

After reading the manual, the hangup phone button is the magic button for switching playlists, and that's pretty much it... so if you have 1000 songs in that playlist, DUH!!

LOADED 08' C350 & 14' GLK-350 Diamond White (P1, MM, AMG Pkg, Ln Trkng, Htd Sts, Keylss Go)
does the dealer ipod integration pass video to the MM screen (when parked)???
If so, is this the only way to input video into the MM?
