brakes squeak, 5100 miles
Brakes starting to give off a very very mild, but audible squeak when I get with 40-50 feet of a stop....
very mild, and seems normal enough, as they are bringing a heavy car to a stop through frictional forces...
but should i take it in for this or just wait till the next service?
Also, will the car computer notify me of the time for a service??
first one after initial check up is at 13K miles, righT?

My brakes started to squeal around 1,000 miles, however the problem is easily fixed by the rain, snow or a car-wash. I assume the noise is caused by an accumulation of brake dust, but I could be wrong since I am not a mechanic.
I read numerous threads about brake noise with various MB cars, so it is a bit annoying and unfortunate that the W204 is suffering a similar fate. Maybe it is the price that we pay for having very powerful brakes.

I remember when I was doing my first test drive in the C Class, the brakes squeaked a bit. The sales guy told me it was brake dust build up. I remember he jokingly said to either stand on the brakes, hit a puddle or get a wash... I think I'd opt for the wash. For what it's worth, when I test drove the 335 it squeaked as well and the pompous (he really thought he was the *****) sales guy blamed it on brake dust too. Seems to be a German thing.
Maybe when you get your brakes replaced you could consider a different compound.

There is a very little squeak. like 1 in 100 times of breaking. mostly happen if i do not wash the car for 3 weeks. 2600KM on the clock. Its very normal. I heard the similar squeak on my brothers new BMW 2005 model. its just break dust. nothing to worry about.
