Mod Dilemma

I'm kind of in a dilemma right now. I have 2 ways in mind of modding my car:

1) Buy the 18" AMG wheels offered as an option and install a set of AMG quad exhaust.

2) Buy a set of lowering springs or coilovers and a set of nice wheels(Vellano, Carlsson), and leaving the stock exhaust alone.

Which way would you guys recommend I should go with?

I would go with your second choice as well. The AMG wheels look good, but they are hella expensive if you don't get them as a $1000 option on C350's. Plus if you wait, after market people will come up with free flow exhaust that should add horsepower and good looks.

Consider that I can get the 18" AMG wheels for the same price as the option($1000), which way should I go?

I would probably change my choice to the first one if you can get the $1000 AMG option. That option includes tires and wheels, you can't get a good set of after market rims and tires for $1000. That is if you like the wheels and don't want to go with a different design.

I'm not a huge fan of lowering the C (theres a thread with a lowered C300 already) but I was figuring you were getting a C300 and adding the optional 18'' AMG wheels which are $3k. For that you could lower it and get rims. So I change my choice to 1 knowing the situation better.

Any idea on what springs to get? I'm looking for a set that sits lower than H&R

C300 (W204) w/ MM, P1, & 18"amg's
I would rather go with Op. 2 because aftermarket pipes that will add horsepower + the quad tip more then likly. question on my own. how much are the H&R springs running? Im thinkin about droping it.

I'm dying to know where you are going to pay that for a set of 18s.

Its a factory option on C350 and non 4matic C300 Sports. Includes rims and tires* so yes its a great deal! Now you know why those of us that ordered C300 Sport 4matics were complaining about not being able to order that option.

I have a friend who is getting the new C and since he doesn't want to get the 18" AMG wheels, I told him that I would pay $1000+tax to swap my rims with his.

HR springs will lower your car about 4" unless you want to drop it, you have to cut one coil out of the spring (not recomended)

I will swap rims with you if your friend does do it.

I would get the 18" AMGs and stop there. Wish I had with my C300.

My personal opinion is that the larger oval exaust pipes look more stylish (we are talking about style) than a pair of smaller round pipes.

As for lowering the car, that is likely to be a problem with the 18" wheels. Even if it isn't, I like not scraping the ground effects moulding when pulling out of my driveway.

To lower the car.

As i stated in the other forum, Option 2 is the way to go. the 18" are nice but aftermarket 19"/20" are much nicer for the long run since many will have the 18" soon.

#1, the car will look much better and drive much better. 19 and 20 inch wheels will give you a very hard ride in a car of this size...

18s for how much?

GPI posted:

Since you have had the car for two months now, my question was, how can you now buy them for the option price of $1000 when dealer retail is $3290 and their cost is $2350?

Assuming there is only one GPI posting.
