unlocking the rear doors from the inside?
How come the rear passenger doors on my car do not unlock when the handle is pulled from the inside? it seems the child locks are on & I dont know how to turn them off.

I think he's saying that the door won't unlock when you pull on the door handle when the car is locked. The front doors do it.

I think it's just the safety feature. Don't the doors unlock automatically when the car is turned off? Or the driver or the front passenger could hit the unlock button...

I think in US its manditory to have a childlock in all cars/trucks/vans. Sounds like something M.A.D.D. would do... thanks to them I can die in a war but cant enjoy a beer before I leave. THANKS! lol sry venting.

The answer to this one lies in the 'child locks' answer. The rear doors don't have traditional child lock switches that you can enable, but yes, I believe ... not entirely sure ... that child locks are mandated.
I asked this question a while back, because I needed the child locks ... pre-schooler that likes to monkey with shiny things ... but couldn't find how to activate them.
If you have the drive-away locking enabled, then the rear doors won't open until the driver unlocks them or until the driver opens their door (thus unlocking the doors). Not sure what happens if you try to manually pull the pin. In a round-about way, you get child locks. Child pulls on handle; nothing happens; kid doesn't fall out and we don't get to chalk one up to natural selection. (mine would've fallen out about 20 times already)
Which probably answers my rant in another thread on why, in 2008 there are still lock pins in a damn door. They're too cheap, or think themselves too clever, to just put in the child lock switches like everybody else.

There is a large button below your window controls that either enables or disable the rear door handles.

That big button
<<ogrotewohl; There is a large button below your window controls that either enables or disable the rear door handles.>>
Grotewohl be wrong. That disables the rear window switches. Shows a window right on it. But, if all the doors are locked, using the locking button, it's damned hard to pull up the rear door lock and I question whether a child could do it. Or you could probably just unscrew the lock "knob" which it isn't since a knob is a knob and this isn't a knob. If you know what I mean.
