i asked a friend of mine who works at a bodyshop and he said 3m tape works great and it'll stay on for the life of the car as long as you have a clean install. to have it installed via bolt on, it would cost about 2 hrs of labor which is about $130 in california.

^ On my dads SL500 he has a lip put on by himself and I. Just take some alcohol wipes. close the garage door. clean it off. and have some one help you "lower" the lip on and it takes like an hour to become permanent.

If you live in Texas or any other hot climate, don't bother trying to install with 3M tape. I tried twice. At first, the spoiler felt like it was bolted on each time- not going anywhere. Once it hit 105 F outside, the tape failed.

I'm getting a quote for professional installation, but may ultimately have an arctic white spoiler for sale.

Search for the word "urethane" in the W204 threads. We've discussed this many times. Some believe tape is enough. I don't. I've used a bead of urethane for both the roof and decklid spoilers, taped them into position, and then let them sit for the rest of the day to cure. They are now quite solid and would have to be forcibly removed, if so desired, so getting the fit correctly is quite important. MB makes urethane in a tube, but I am sure other good products are available. Just consider, urethane is also used to retain windshields in position.

check out JBSpeed on the forums. There's pics with either the lip or 3 piece spoiler installed on the car.

I am with you, and there are definitely more people in this category. One of my friends purchased an almost exactly the same C300 after me, but with a spoiler. We parked our cars side by side a lot of times. Although it is not a clear cut, a lot of our friends agree that without the spoiler C300 looks cleaner and slightly more classic (note that our cars are both Lux models).

In my opinion, Ryan is quite correct. You don't need a piece of taped-on plastic to improve the appearance of a beautifully sculpted and much desireable automobile. If MB thought the lines of the car needed this look, they would have designed it into the sheet metal, like another less desireable luxury brand does.

So I know a few mentioned the JBSpeed one, but mostly other brands. Has anyone gotten the JBSpeed AMG style one painted? It's only $180, so its a great deal, just want to make sure I'm putting a quality product on my car.

Also still debating whether to actually get it or not, but I love the AMG design lip and at that price its hard to pass up.

I have a lip spoiler from ebay that does not protrude as much as the AMG one seems but I really like it. It only cost 70 with paint and shipping included and I've had it installed for at least a year I think. The color matches perfectly.

I think this is their most recent link. If I remember correctly, they alternate listing it at lower and higher prices, so if you're patient you may be able to buy for less than that 89 list price.

Edit: Check my "garage" on this site and you can see it on my car. I don't have a zoomed picture of it at the moment though.
