C350 (Non 4Matic) On Ice & Snow

Having had this car less than a month, the last thing I wanted to do was drive it on the ice and snow that has been accumulating in Colorado over the past week. I've been driving our diesel Jeep in this stuff, but today I couldn't take it any longer - I had to drive the C. I figured that I'd be fine, as I have the 17" wheels with all-season tires. Besides, I'd spent the past few evenings putting together a dual-layer DVD of all my MP3 files, so I was itching to hear it while on the road.

The alley behind our garage is still a sheet of ice, so I was prepared for the worst. I was blown away by how easily the tires and ESP casually got me on my way without any drama. I used to have a 99 E320. I loved that car, but it was horrible on snow and ice. It had traction control, but no ESP. I would often find myself turning off the traction control so I could spin the wheels to get the thing in our garage.

The C350 reminded me of an old BMW 7-series that I used to own. It was just a bullish tank that used its two-plus tons to ram its way through the snow.

Man, I love this car.

2008 C300 Sport 4matic
C300 4matic here in New York and I've never felt more secure in snow. This car glides and it's so smooth.

That's very relieving to hear! I'm getting mine in Jan. and have been nervous about not getting 4matic, but I just really wanted the bigger engine. Thanks for the good news!

I don't think you'll be disappointed, Krytech. I don't have winter tires, and I feel pretty confident after today. With winter tires, you'll be in very good shape.

Of course, you had it in "C" mode, right?

You mean "S" isn't for "Snow"?

the 4matic is very useful, when trying to "get out" or accelerate on slippery roads, my main concern would be the stopping power/grip of the car on the slik road... I did not get the 4matic so i hope the ABS, ESP + tires dont fail me!
