Fifth Gear review - could be repost

Hi guys,
I found this video and thought "WOW". Were all those things mentioned ACTUALLY in a car that I've ordered - then wondered if USA buyers would ever get them all??

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogxDI...eature=related

Cheers!

....and more good things.

I think its likely to be know as one of those "great cars". Lots of quality for a relatively cheap price. (only relatively, still a pile of money)

After two months of ownership and 5400 miles, I'd buy it again. (but I'd add the mm package)

You'll find the usual forum trolls hitting this thread, so be prepared.

er... do you mean pounds? last time I check, 1 euro = 1.4 dollar, which translate the 40k euro to approx 57k USD.

sounds more reasonable to me at 40k euro tho.

W204 C220cdi
One thing to note is that the "standard" or "base" spec for the W204 varies considerably from market to market. In the UK we tend to get more goodies included in the base price of the car than you would in Germany for example, but when you spec the cars from the two markets the same the price is very similar. If any of you guys in the USA are interested, you can download the UK Price List which also identifies what is standard equipment in that market and the price of each option from here and see for yourself.

We have a thing in the UK called Value Added Tax (VAT - the same type of tax exists all through Europe under slightly different names) which is similar in operation to the Canadian GST. The rate in the UK is 17.5% and the current exchange rate is approx 1 GBP = 2 USD, so to get a comparable pre-tax price in USD, just divide the UK "On the Road" price by 1.175 and then multiply the result by 2.

In the UK and the rest of Europe the C300 is badged as a C280, but the C350 is badged the same. In "standard" Sport spec for the UK, but with no other options, the C280 would be on the road for approx USD 52,900 pre-tax and the C350 on the road for USD 60,550 pre-tax. With tax, it's USD 62,150 and USD 71,150 respectively.

I priced a C220 CDI Wagon, avantgrade, AMG package (18 inch wheels, bodykit, sports suspension, sports seats, bi xenon) standard audio all came to a wopping 559,000 Norwegian Krone. I bought a w203 C200 CDI 3 months ago and paid 410,000 Norwegian Krone, I was toying with upgrading to the w204, the new wagon is a one sweet looking ride, much better looking than the sedan. My wife said NO, stop dreaming you can get a new one in 4 years.

I cry when I see the options available for non-US models. Then I compensate that by looking at the pricing..... its a 2 way street.
