Picked up my car from the dealer after 4 days and the weekend and they have replaced some front SAM or fuse box I don't know for sure.
Lets see if the problem was solved! They also dont have a clue if the problem was from the part they changed!!!!

Ok, problem is still there!
It seams that are more cars apearing with the same problem in Europe!
Factory didn't came up yet with a solution, but the problem is in that fuse box changed in my car, but there is a problem with the production of that fuse box, and no other to replace it yet!

This sounds typical of an EIS problem. Does the key actually turn in the ignition? I'm trying to ascertain whether the EIS is actually inductively powering up the key as it should.

In my case factory knows where is the problem, some fuse box at front in the engine, not EIS, for that has been an service call in warranty to fix that, but my car was not in the lot, but changed it anyway...
It seems that many w204 are starting to have this problem in europe, at the beging mine was one of the few but now...
Factory know that there is a problem with the fuse box, and changed mine, but the current fuse boxs are the same!
They are changing production to fix the problem, till them, no fixed part!!!

OK - then the EIS is powering up the key. Sounds like the front SAM is the culprit.

I had the same no start issue that others had described on this forum with my 2001 C240. The dealer Helms Brothers in Queens, New York replaced my front SAM and 4 year old battery this week for $1050. It starts up , but it seems my headlights always stays on when in the light switch is in the "auto" mode.

They have omitted to connect the light sensor - or they have damaged it.

Yes - you are quite correct. I forgot about that. They may have disturbed the setting. Could well be on daytime running lights.

My C350 did it yesterday[4th time] after a long time not doing it, it was a warmer day. After I stopped, it cranked over for a long time, no starting. Switch off pull out key, reinsert and it started.Never happened on B170.All I can say is it did not happened on cold days, but once when the engine was cold on a summer day.16500Km.

On diesels it could be an issue with high pressure build up but isn't the CPS more likely in your case? Did you say how old the car is, I can see that it does not have a lot of miles but I had a CPS sensor recall on my W221 (even if it had no issues), just wandering if it could use the same part.

A CPS at 16500 Km is possible but highly unlikely. According to MBSA Benz knows there is a problem with the front SAM. As a poster above states - no fix yet.

My problem was solved,
New production front fuse box, without the problem.
Factory sent out the informartion when I left the car in for service B, 1 month now.

My C350 did it at 2000KM already +/-, just as I forget about it, it happens.
I am thinking about what can bring the problem on:
1-I stop, put in park and switch off immediately.Usually I let engine idle for about 5 seconds, but just sometimes forget.
2-I switch on and start immediatey....I repeated this one but could not reproduce.
Today I took same trip, park on same places as yesterday, all OK.
It looks the car won't drop me next to the road at this stage.

Good news that the new SAM is available. I knew it was in redesign. Great - well I guess a bulletin will be at dealers shortly.

My car fell victim to the SAM issue on Friday. I started it and made 2 quick trips before it failed to start at my second stop before heading to work.
The car had to be towed to the dealer. They told me it is the SAM and should be fixed Tuesday afternoon.
I had the car for 2 full days before this problem occurred and I was not happy to have my pre-owned (but new to me) car with only 1800 miles leave me stuck.
I'm glad there is a solution to the problem and will give the benefit of the doubt that this will be a one time thing.

The SAM didn't worked for me, the problem is still there, but not as frequent as it was!
I'm suspecting the sensor of the auto gear box, but I've to make the test when it happen again, 0 times in 3 months!

Wife's 2008 Mercedes C300 wouldn't start. Wouldn't crank or have normal displays on cluster as during normal ignition starts. As if the ignition was not receiving power. Checked battery, fuses, relays, linkage making sure car was in park etc. looked online & heard about ignition module(very common). The dealer gets around $2000 to replace. Had reputable foreign car mechanic look & confirm that it was this module. The cars Column has to be dropped & module has to be programmed. The parts made up at least half the cost. All said & done $900. Which I was glad because considerably cheaper than dealer. Was told that Mercedes tried to monopolize the replacement of module claiming owners personal info was encoded on ignition/keys. However they lost in court & now have to sell them to outside mechanic shops. I also had to sign a statement with ID authorizing Mercedes to sell the shop the necessary parts. No big deal, just faxed paperwork thru mechanic. Good luck to u all. Now u know

When it doesn't start I just remove the key and put it on again and normaly it starts right away.
