US price increase (+$450)
Looks like MB increased the base C300 Sport from $31,200 to $31,600.
They also increased the destination charge from $775 to $825.
Not a big deal, but it makes my wait even more aggravating.
My build went from an MSRP of $43,690 to $44,140.

Actually according to the numbers on the build your own the price for the base model is now $32,425. A number of vehicles went up in price across the classes as well.

Price Increase
I wonder with the 2009 model, if the price will be even higher and if they will include any more additional features as standard?
Also, the good news might be, for those in the market for a new C Class, they might be able to get a better deal or discount than us early model folks.
I was able to get very little discount on mine in November.

the increase is really nothing if you consider how low the U.S. dollar has dropped (the increase is less than 2%). Pricing is still very competitive with the 3-series and A4.
The only concern for those ordered or will be ordering a W204 would be the priority allocations of the production to other countries with favorable exchange rates and more profitable margins.

well...i intended on only spending around 40k altogether, but i wanted all the gadgets with my first benz. im already going over my intended budget as it is. going for the 350 the way i want it adds up to $46,600...which puts me way over what i intended on spending.

Why not add them?
Do the European W204 C Class models have memory seats?
If so, you may want to contact Steve at http://www.mbenznl.nl/
to find out if they can be added.
I know Steve has been active w/ the W203 forum for several years and understand he has traveled all around the world (including S. California) to help forum owners ad all sorts of cool OEM mods to their Benzes.
I am asking him to look into the P1 Self dimming, Homelink mirror which should have been included on my car as standard!

Those base prices never meant anything because there were no cars at those prices. MB always added on a "Sport" or "Luxury" package which revealed the real base unequipped price. And transportation was always and is now included in the MSRP. Any salesman who tries to add transportation to the MSRP should be canned.
For example, my C300 Lux was priced at $33475 base and is now $34125 including the new $825 trucking cost. No matter how you look at it, that's a $650 increase and considering the current exchange rate, I'm surprised it isn't more. And I bet it will go up again.

quarterly increases? The US is headed into recession, home equity is already tapped out, and the US political system is likely to deliver a new administration that applies tax increases to the income demographic that buys cars like this. In that environment, I can't see how they could sustain quarterly price increases. They build the car in south africa now, who are they passing that cost savings off to?

Then, when the 2009s are released, with more options...booya...another increase.

Thought I'd post an update for those still waiting to take delivery of their cars. My dealer "ate" the $450 increase that my car is coming with. At first it sounded like he was saying I was going to have to pay it since my PA says 'Base Price Subject to Change', but once I told him I wasn't interested in paying it, it quickly disappeared.
If you already have your car on order, stand firm.

I say quarterly only because MB couldn't even sustain their initial pricing for more than 3 months as it was. If they increased it by this much in such little time for whatever reason...I think we can expect another increase by early summer.

Memory? What memory?
<<memory seats arent of use to me. Nobody else drives my car. I never have to change the seat.>>
What about the right hand seat? Passengers like to be comfortable, too. I transport my elderly mother who needs the seat up high and forward which is the opposite of everyone else. And I'm weary of reaching over the seat to readjust it before a passenger can get in.
