MBTex - Cleaner / Conditioner

What do you use to clean and condition the MBTex? I have always had leather and only have leather cleaner/conditioning products. Not sure if it is safe to use or if there is something else i should use that is on the market.

Thanks.

303 Aerospace Protectant

This is what I'll be using. Seen it recommend by several members over at autopia. It's supposed to be low gloss and non-greasy.

http://www.detailedimage.com/303-M2/...rotectant-P12/

"The 303 Protectant is great to use on your vehicle's rubber (tires, seals, hoses), vinyl (dashboard, doors, armrests, interior and exterior trim, engine casings, convertible tops), plastic (car bras, gauges, grills, convertible's soft windows), leather (seats, trim), around the house and so much more."

Good question. I need to clean my leather sit on the driver side. Just realized yesterday the sit is blue color(from a supposed to be a light grey leather), must have been my jeans. So Aerospace Protectant can get rid of that. cool.

I was wondering the same thing about cleaning the MBTex. Amazon has 303 and you can find a local dealer here:
http://www.wheretobuy303.com/index.php?tab=US

It gets great reviews on Amazon but one guy does say it is slick so avoid the steering wheel. I havent used it yet so take that for what it's worth.

I'm off to get a bottle.

I use two things, first being Amour All Leather Care (be sure it is NOT regular Armour All) that stuff will just make you slip and slide around, plus if you use it on real leather it robs the natural hide of its oils drying it out, but we are talking about MBTex here. A quick look at their website shows they no longer make what I'm currently using. I have a lotion in a tan bottle, they now have a gel in a tan bottle, so I can't say for certain if it will still work as well. The second thing and most common one I use, is just a damp wash cloth. Yup a damp wash cloth takes off that blueish tint on gray interiors left from your jeans and removes most of the body oils that take the shine away.

I have used Lexol in the past and it works fantastically. Doesn't add shine but gives it that OEM look.

+ 1 .

I wouldn't want shiny seats (or dashboard either). I think the glossy look inside is very cheap. It reminds me of people that used to rub baby oil on the trim to make it shine - yuck.

Try Zaino Z-10 Leather in a Bottle. No shine and has leather smell.

I'm going to go with 303 Aerospace on the dash, etc. and Zaino Z10 on the seats. I usually get leather air freshner so Z10 should be perfect.

I use Z10 on the dash as well because it contains UV protection.

Since MB-Tex is plastic, any upholstery cleaner will work. Try Tuff Stuff, found everywhere.

I have always used Lexol on leather and I think I'm going to use their vinyl dressing on the MB-tex.

Zaino Leather in a bottle for the leather sent. How cool is that!

By the way, has anyone here tried Zaino's Z2 w/ "multi coats" enhanced w/ the ZFX "Flash Cure"??

Is this really the bomb or just hype??

I've read strong things about it on another forum.

Does anyone know if it is paintable?

I remember those gimmicky "Polyglycoat" products of the 80's that the dealer forced you to buy when they applied it to every car on the lot before the customer could purchase it. It was a big problem when it came time for a fender repair because the body shop had to figure out a way to strip it off before he did his paint work on your car. It also made it hard just to polish and rewax your car.

Almost forgot...Meguiar's #40 rubber and vinyl protectant is very good. There is a store version called Meguiar's Shine. It's not quite as good though.

It really does make a different especially if you have a dark colored car. Below are the pictures I took on my black 330i after wash, clay bar, Z-2 and Z-6. The only down side about Zaino is you can't mix their products with other brands.

its good and last longer than meguiar/mothers in similar climate. This "polycoat" is not permenant so you don't have to worry about "paintable"

only thing is that if you follow their steps, wash/clay/z2/spray/z2... it will take some elbow grease even though that stuff is easy to apply and come off.

but then again, this goes with almost every product if you do it right....

Oh.... you can also try klass all in one polish, very nice and simple.

Cannot clean Beige Artico (MB-Tex) Interior

I have a brand new C250 4matic Elegance with Beige Artico leatherette upholstery. I read the owner's manual before cleaning the interior. I used leather cleaner with Lanolin in it. The lanolin bonds to the vinyl permanently and cannot be removed. I turns the upholstery dirty and is a disaster. If anyone has had this problem or has a recommendation I would appreciate it. My dealer is only changing my armrest and will not change the dirty driver's seat.
Mercedes should not use the term leather when describing this interior. It is not artificial leather, it is plain old PVC (plastic). The manual does not suggest any cleaning products or cautions regarding using leather cleaner. I used Meguiar's Leather Cleaner which I use on my other Mercedes. It has a real leather interior and looks great after five years. I thought the fake stuff would be easier to take care of and so far it's not. ]

Here's a semi off topic question.... I bought my car used, the previous seller told me that he had optioned for the real leather... however with all of the new kinds of fake leather I really wouldnt be able to tell the difference... is there a way for me to tell whether I have MBtex or real leather without seeing the original option sheet?
