Little dissapointed in

the chrome trim that runs along the bottom half of the doors on the W204. Anybody agree? Better yet, has anybody attempted to remove this trim? Also, I was having a look a the rear end of the Brabus Bullet and thought that the way the tail lights were finished looked tasteful, and not overdone like the regular Brabus C with the black tail lights we keep seeing pictures of. It appeared as though the trim around the tail lights was black, making it look nicer in my opinion on a white car. I thought maybe purchase those dreaded chrome surrounds, sand em down and paint them black? What do you guys think?? Thanks for your input

I find the chrome strip down the side of the doors tasteful, but then I have an Obsidian car so they stand out a bit better. I do know they are just for looks and pretty much useless when it comes to door dings as one user here already posted. As for taking them off you know it can be done as body shops to it all the time to repaint the doors and what not, but I wonder if there is a groove that it sits in. If not, probably be a "ghost spot" in the paint where they were attached though. If you have a sport which doesnt have the chrome strips around the front and rear bumpers than just go for it and be the test dummy, be sure to take some pics ha ha.

The first thing I said to the saleman is, "I am removing the chrome door strips." Once I saw them on my white car, I didn't think they looked too bad. Now I am undecided. I am pretty sure you can remove them just like you remove emblems.

I don't mind the look, but mine have uneven gaps between the door and the trim. The front edge on both is starting to peel away a bit.

I like them, and all the subtle chrome details on / in the car.

Maybe call parts and ask them if that strip is adhesive or if you need clips.

It's been stated from other threads that the chrome strip is held on by double sided tape. No clips.

IMHO, I like them on the car and would not want to remove them.

The chrome strips are very subtle looking on my silver car, and I had some stains which developed on them which I could not buff or polish off. They were also dirt collectors and I really like the very clean trimless look of the BMW 5-series doors so decided to remove them.

I'm really happy with the way it looks:
