Chrome Inserts

Has anyone seen how the chrome door and/or mirror inserts look like on a black C300?? Don't know if it would look tacky.

They seem to look good on the cars that already have the chrome insert through the middle of the door handle (M, GL, R, E ect) but on the C class with the solid painted door pulls it doesn't look right. I think I read somewhere that Canadian C's or European C's have the handles with the chrome insert, so in that case they would look good.

I have the Mercedes OEM chrome mirror housings and I think they look great. It's the signature feature on the Audi S-line models, a Volvo exclusive accessory from Volvo tuner, Heico.
Since the side marker lens on the mirrors are extremely unnecessarily huge the chrome housings really make them less noticable. I would stay away from non-OEM chrome mirrors as they are stick on covers and don't have the clean tight fit and depending on the color car you have, you could see a little of the painted portions through the edges.

I really like the clean look, so I don't like the chrome door handle scoops, especially on a darker color car. Sure they prevent finger nail scratches, but clear bra material in the scoops does a nicer better looking job.
I'd rather prefer chrome door handles covers, I don't think they exist yet.

X3 and 2012 C coming soon
I thought the Audi had brushed aluminum mirrors.

Anyway, in my opinion, less chrome is better.

I love the look of the chrome mirrors and plan on putting it on my car. Looks like the OEM covers are the way to go and not the stick ons.

Although I was thinking about the door handles but may pass on it. I would need to see it on another car in person before I buy.

I thought I read somewhere that the OEM ones were stick ons? No?!

I think they look good on the white cars, not so much on the darker colors. As others have commented, I too would like to see a door pull with a chrome strip on the top similar to the other MB models. That I would pay for in a heartbeat.

2008 C350 Sax 5th Ave. Edition
I have C350 Sak's 5th Ave Edition

and I bought the chrome door inserts. My wife urged me not to put them on as she thought it would look tacky (as did a friend). I put them on anyway, and everyone (who even noticed) admitted they look great. Much more subtle than you might think and they dress the car up just a tad bit. I'm very happy with them.

Would you mind posting some pictures of the chrome handles? I would love to see what they look like as I'm thinking about it for my car. Also did you buy the set from the dealer? Was it easy to install? Sorry for all the questions. Thanks!

I appreciate everyone's input. They may look great but I opted to not go with the chrome inserts... I get my C300 Sport this Friday!

Just picked up my new C300 Sport!

I picked my C300 up on Friday... I LOVE IT! It is everything I thought it would be... and more. I LOVE how it picks up your cell when you get into the vehicle. How awesome is that!?!? I wish the radio would continue to play but I guess you can't have two sounds going through the system at once? I chose P1 for my vehicle and I think the sound is great! Glad I didn't invest in the MM pkg... although I would have liked the Nav but will most likely invest in a portable one that can go anywhere (especially since I am leasing my vehicle). One things I am wondering about - is it necessary to get the MB rubber mats or do the generic ones fit? Bad idea not to have them in Vermont during the winter! And... I already have to wash my car. Will surely bring it to a touchless car wash and do my own... until the weather is nice enough to do it at home.

Welcome FGG! Happy to hear that you are enjoying the car.

I'd love to see pictures with the chrome inserts. I debated for a while but thought that there's already enough chrome on my door handle.

Rubber mats are definitely required for the winter to protect the carpet from the salt and whatever else people put down on the roads. I've heard very mixed reviews about the OEM mats. Been bugging WeatherTech to come out with their custom-fit floor liners, but to no avail. The more people bugging them the better....

You could have gotten a white car.... I just hand-washed it today (it was 32F). I was grey and brown before that.

LOADED 08' C350 & 14' GLK-350 Diamond White (P1, MM, AMG Pkg, Ln Trkng, Htd Sts, Keylss Go)
only get chrome door inserts if you have a light colored car, like white or iridium silver... looks very clean and not overdone

looks like crap on black cars
