Gas Nozzle Pops Out

This has happened to me twice now. The first time I thought it was a quirk. When filling my car, I put the nozzle in as far as it will go, set the autofill lever on the pump handle and walk away to wash my windows. Twice now, when the gas tank has reached full and the nozzle trips, the nozzle jumps out of the tank, runs down the side of the car and lands on the ground - quite forcibly. So far no scratches or dings.

Has this happened to anyone else? From here on out, I am holding the nozzle!

First, welcome to MBworld. Second, This has happened to me a few times at "RaceTrack" (sp?) and i just stoped going to them; only reason I went to before was because they had very bright lights at 4am unlike some places that are pitch black and you trip over curbs and wonder whats out in the dark. Now I carry a maglight for any spooky moments.

Try to set the nozzle in there more securely till it snaps in to a locked position. Usually what you are experiencing occurs with the vapor recovery plastic elephant nose type nozzles. If the nozzle doesn't snap in then it is defective. Try another pump next time.
