Panoramic or normal sunroof?
I've placed an order for a C220 CDI with a normal sunroof, but it is not too late for me to change this to a panoramic roof. When I test-drove the car, I noticed that the panoramic sunroof blind does not completely block out sunlight, and I'm concerned about the car getting hotter under the sun than one with a normal sunroof (the sun in Melbourne is stronger than most parts of the world, with the ozone hole!).
I would like to hear from anyone with a panoramic sunroof - does the heat bother you? Should I change my mind?

You can go either way. The sunroof is great but the Pano gives the car a little more of luxury appearance. If I were to have concerns about the sun penetration throught the roof, then I'd tint it.

Definitely the car looks better with panoramic roof. My first Benz with a pano roof was the 03 E500 and the effect on the car was great. I ordered the C350 sport with Pano.
Yes, if you have issues with too much sun getting through, tinting would be the answer.

I hate how it pops out over the car and looks like some kind of roof spoiler. The normal sunroof slids in the middle of the roof so from the out side it just looks normal. And honestly thats the ONLY thing diffrent... ya its a little bigger but if you have a black car its better to go with the normal roof and pocket the cash. On a white car i would have streched for the pano just because of the black roof. My 2cents.

Pano FTW ... I realize I'm shallow, but the pano roof was 90% of why I bought the car. Otherwise I would've gone for a much cheaper lease on a much faster car (335i).

Looks like pano is the favourite so far.... minor point, but does anyone kow of think whether the pano roof adds any weight and therefore affect the performance / balance?

It would need to add some amount of weight. Such saftey glass will be heavier than steel. But, i doubt it would affect the performance to any noticable level.

No heat problems here....I actually have found that if you set your interior temp settings on auto, it perfectly cools/heats the cabin boosting the fan as necessary to reach the desired cabin temp.
I never close the shades on my panoramic roof and have had no problems....even in bright sunlight. It is one of my favorite features in my car!!

Pano roof, yes or no
Before my C300's order change cut-off date, I sat in a Pano roof model, opening and closing it a few times and decided against it for the following reasons.
I did not like the landed-flying-saucer look of the open roof panel perched on top of the roof and wondered about wind noise when open and future water leaks.
With the roof open, I looked in and it seemed to me that the area inside around the opening was going to be a dirt catcher which would be an ongoing cleaning problem.

I really like the look and feel of the pano roof from the inside. The Euro style sliding roof look leaves a little to be desired but I think I would of gone with it if you could control the shade for the front and back separately. My two little ones aren't found of the bright light in their eyes and usually ask to have me close the shade on my SUV which has a rather large opening. It may sound petty to some, but I opted for the regular roof because of that.

Thanks for all your thought. I love the look of the Pano, but heat is a major problem in summer, with temperatures in cars getting to 60 degrees c. (139F). Even with tinting I think with see through roof and without roof insulation, I suspect it will still make a 5-10 degree difference. Most importantly, even my car salesman (and his boss) say some people complain of the heat. After much deliberation, I've decided to stick to standard roof (unless I move to cooler climate!)

I have the Pano roof, no heat problems with the shade in place, only draw back is head room, it takes quite a chunk, if you are tall, then try before you buy, if you enjoy using your sunroof, and headroom is not a problem opt for the Pano.

Is it a big difference?? Not that I am tall or anything, but the interior isn't the roomiest as it is...
The Pano roof also plays a big part on what exterior color I will be getting..(white or black are the choices)
