wait 6 months to use claybar?

i was at the carwash the other nite... and some guy was commenting on my car... we got to talking about car maintenance... and he said that i should wait at least 6 months before i use a claybar... cause it could mess up the paint job?

did you guys ever hear of anything like that?

X3 and 2012 C coming soon
It is usually take 6 months for new paint to fully cure. That may not be the case these days and there may be a difference between factory paint and body shop paint cure time. Why do you want to use it so soon? Is your paint that bad?

To remove surface contaminants. Everyday you expose your car to the elements, your paint is exposed and collects fallout, road debris, tar, rust particles, etc. The claybar removes these from the paint and gives that "glass smooth" feeling again. You'd be surprised what a claybar can remove even though your paint may look and feel okay.

If you don't re-knead often or use a clean piece of clay when the current clay that you're using is beyond it's useful life, you could potentially scratch the paint with whatever you pick up. Other than that, no negative effects.

Claybar

If you have something on the paint (tree sap, bee poop, tar etc) that water or a dab of 3M Adhesive Remover won't readily remove, clay will probably do it just fine. I've been using Griot's claybar with Speedshine (lubricant) for years and it does a great job. You don't have to wait.
