Who's Jeff, and where's this chrome mesh grill? I need one immediately. Then I'll paint it black and slap it on.

And has anyone posted a DIY on the removal? With pictures, if possible? I tried searching, and couldn't find a thread with removal instructions. In fact, a search led me here.

In fact my wifes C300 sport (auto) feels quicker than my old 2000 Nissan Maxima SE that had 222 hp, that was considered a quick car and it's bigger and doesn't handle as well as our C300, our C300 also feels equal and arguably slightly quicker than the 2004 Acura TL (auto) we traded for it again not really a slow car by comparison. Also I find that using the manual feature makes the car feel 10-20% quicker in almost all situations, I'm used to driving manuals so I'm quite good at negotiating that feature.

Well put. I don't think its slow either, whoever says it is is just use to 200+ hp engines.

Coming from an E46 M3 and stage 4 WRX with an ET of 12.702, my C350 isn't slow. Some people just worry about the stoplight acceleration which the C300/C350 is bad at, but the post 55mph highway pull to 120mph is really good. I sometimes have to kind of remember to look at the speedo because I would forget and hit 100mph easily, something that I had to do in my E46. My C350 isn't faster than my previous two cars, but it's respectible to say at least and of course if I wanted power, I would have picked up the C63.

It's not a dog. I have had some pretty quick cars, but this one is the most enjoyable all-around driver. I have had two GTIs in the 250 - 300 hp range and they were crazy. My father had a Viper and C5 Vette. Both very fast, but not so great to be in for extended periods.

Oh...330s, hell they have trouble keeping up with me in my 11 year-old Volvo 850 turbo. My chipped Passat, same thing. The issue in those cases isn't horsepower (330s have more), but low rpm torque.

We could all have purchased EVOs and STIs. No thanks. A tin can with a hopped up motor isn't my cup of tea.

Before my post above gets buried, I gotta ask again:

Who's Jeff, and did he really end up making a metal version of the lower mesh grill? I want one...

+1

I often find myself doing 100 MPH without even realizing it and have to slow down. I think that's the point of this car, though--the car exhibits supreme stability and poise at high speeds. I keep imagining those crazy Germans commuting to work 200 miles away, but getting there in an M-B, on the autobahn. I actually think I would feel safe to drive at 150 MPH in this car, if I were crazy enough to try it. That quality in a car is more important to me now, since I use this car mostly for transportation.

When I was younger all I cared about was off the line, 0-60 MPH acceleration in cars. All that got me were too many tickets to count, a lot of money wasted on gas (all that pedal to the metal action!), and a $7500 insurance rate.

Thank goodness I grew up (only a little bit though). I wish people would just stop complaining about how slow this car is. Fast enough for me!

You and I must have different cars. My C300 I have to mash the pedal to get it to go 75, let alone 100. 100 takes some serious effort, and a lot of patience while I wait for the car to accelerate to that speed. The few times I've tried, I could've read a chapter or two while I watched the needle climb.

Is your car properly tuned? My 300 hits 85 with no effort at all, and the tach is reading something just below 2500. Same area, so maybe there's a problem in your on-board computer?

(Yeah, I'm not interested in hitting 100, but I've absolutely no doubt about it's ability to do that, and almost while I'm not looking.)

I agree, I don't even need to pass 2800rpm~ top get to 85mph, and at 80mph it stays at 1800rpm.

Possibly ... or I'm just used to cars with more power.

Either way, it takes a lot of pedal movement/pressure to even get this car to move. And then once it does start moving I can read a book while I wait for it to get up to speed.

Have you done the "reset' procedure? I did that at about 6K miles and things got much better afterwards. Some of your description is like I had before. It's now gone.

My wife's C300 has the six speed and she's more than happy with the acceleration/power. We both think it's much fast than her c230k (with pulley 10-12psi) hands down.
