Smoke from a cold start...

I have a new 2008 C300 with ~500miles on it.

I noticed sat morning and this morning, when started the car from a cold, there was a big puff of light-blueish smoke coming from the tailpipes. Its just one puff a smoke and it stops. I know blue means oil.

Well, I got my gf to drive the car while I was following her to see if it smokes while driving and acceleration. The car does not smoke while driving. It just smokes only on the first cold start.

Does anyone else have this issue? Any idea what is wrong?

Thanks,

Twin

300E a couple 1994 w124wagon E320 Wagon/,1971MGB Track/Rally, MG Midget Autocross ,2000 E320 wagon.
Valve guides

Have the dealer check it out,put them on notice that something is going on out of the normal and that way you have it documented in case anything crops up.
The car is under warranty so it should be no problem.

+1...Even if it is nothing...make sure it is documented you told your SA. Make sure you are aware of the date and time you talked to MB. Your better off being overly paranoid...

Usually the cause of such behavior is oil getting past the valve guide oil seals while the engine is turned off. Drips down slowly into the combustion chambers. On engine start, that oil is burned, thus creating initial puff of light blue smoke. Will not see the smoke later, because the leaks are so minor. Hopefully, that is not the case with your engine.

I scheduled an appointment with the dealer on wednesday. What could cause the oil getting ps the valve guide on a NEW car?

Don't let the SA tell you it's normal either because it isn't.....have them perform a leak down test if they are giving you lame excuses.

yes, I guess. I checked last couple of days and no blue smoke at morning cold start. Last time when I noticed that was during clear bra install. Car's front was on 15 degree ramp slope for 4hr and when it started I saw the blue puff.
Where did you get this check, mine bought from North Houston.
