B Pillar Rattle

Recently I've had passengers in the car, and it may be coincidental, but the car now has a rattle that's becoming more and more obvious. It sounds like it's coming from the passenger side (right) B Pillar. This morning I pushed in the plastic where the seatbelt is attached and it was quieter for a while. The rattle came back, of course.

After I parked, I checked the fit of the interior panels. All seems okay, but both C pillar covers have a definite clank when pushed up manually.

The rattle sounds like a loose seat mounting, like something is moving, like it should be obvious. When pushed, the seat does not move, and I can't duplicate the rattle with the car parked. With the sunroof cover closed, the rattle is still there (I usually keep it open).

9300 miles, plenty of rough freeways in the area. The rattle happens even when the road surface is fairly smooth, but the car is moving up/down with changing surface. It does not get worse on harsher road surfaces.

Ideas?

(Yeah, I'll be seeing the dealer about this, but if this can be "fixed" sooner, ,then that's better!)

I had what sounded like a vibrating passenger seatback. Pressed my hand against the back and the low vibration went away. Turned out a passenger had left the beltbuckle oddly angled between the seat and pillar. Flipped the buckle and all was well.

After a while, I realized that the rattle has gone away. Why? Simple, I'd closed the doors more firmly than my passengers had done.

So, the rattle was a door that wasn't properly closed.

Even an '87 Accord had a dash indicator to indicate that the door wasn't closed. If the C has one, it's not very sensitive. Huh?

So, no rattle but a shaky door when it isn't properly closed. Me feel foolish... ;0)

Your C should signal it too. A pictogram comes up in the speedo as soon as you move off (but not until you move). On mine, when a passenger leaves a door slightly open the interior light stays as well.
