Installed XM Tuner
So I wanted to put my XM tuner in the car thru the aux input and I got creative. Since I dont smoke I dont use the ashtray, so I took it out and installed the base of the tuner in there and I can remove the tuner and put it away and close the lid of the ashtray and leave the receiver in there.
The sound quality thru the aux input SUCKS though, not happy with that at all, but at least I have my XM radio now. I'm looking into installing an amp for mids and highs to get better sound through the factory radio, as I don't want to replace that. Taking the interior apart is suprisingly straight forward.
I put the antenna inside that top grill on the dash, gets great reception. Ran the aux input cable to the glovebox from the ash tray and got power from the cig. lighter.

I have to ask,
why would you go through the trouble of installing an aftermarket XM tuner on a car that you can have Sirius sat integrated with no unit or install? Sound quality is perfect and as far as I'm concerned also has better stations but I guess thats a matter of opinion. Either way, what made you decide to go aftermarket? Do you really dislike Sirius or do you have some allegiance to XM?

I had xm in my previous car, and I like XM.
I had the unit already so all I spent here was time installing it, nothing else. The aux input is what sounds bad, maybe it's just my car as I haven't been able to compare to another C.
If I would have had the money to get it integrated I would have gotten it...however I'm comfortable with the amount I paid for the car, and didn't want to spend the extra on P2 when I can use the money for other things....so there's your answer.
No holes were drilled, nothing was cut..everything is totally removable.
