I don't understand why you would do this after the fact? Its probably more expensive and more of a hassle. At this point I'd get a Garmin and call it a day. Aesthetically, i don't like the look of them but functionality is a ten.

See attached link, might be worth asking if possible and how much. But I must agree with AMG

if you have the audio 20 system the only way to add navigation is to have the command unit installed,on a w204 the navigation is on a hard drive the same as a s class it does not use a dvd disc

I'd also say that for a fraction of the cost you'd pay for a retrofit, you can get a very decent hard-wire job done on a Garmin or whatever, which would look neat without any trailing wires.
Depending on the size of the GPS unit you get, I'm sure with some creative thinking, you may even be able to get it fixed under the sliding radio cover.

There are 2 options for navigation 1 is Comand and 2 is APS 50 that uses the smaller screen. I don't know if APS 20 can be upgraded to APS 50 but see attached link for info on how it looks. Might be worth asking your MB dealer.
Hope this helps.

Hey partner, check this out. If I didn't have Nav and didn't want to spend a fortune this looks like a good set up.

One further consideration against a retrofit. I know the Comand has a lot of advantages, but a portable GPS device (Garmin or whatever else), do come very close in terms of functionality. In some cases, I think they are even better. Eg, with the command, you cannot upload your personalised POIs, like speed camera locations. In my car, I've got the command + a portable GPS to alert me to those dammed speed cameras.

So I just replaced my Audio 20 head unit. Here's what I found out in the process.
First, you can put any option MB makes in your car; sirius, Navi, CD changer, etc. but you,ll have to have the dealer code the system to the car and that can get expensive. They can charge what ever they want.
Second, start looking around esp. LKQ site on Ebay. You'll see how expensive the parts for a retrofit can get. You want the pop-up screen right? You're gonna need the head unit as well. Don't forget any modules you don't have, ie sirius or backup cam. This can easily run to $1500 or more.
Don't forget the labor involved. You'll have to run new wires and take apart some of the dash and center console.
The used head unit from a GLK cost $225. The labor to put it in was $225 (had the shop put a new center vent in and an AMG leather shift knob while everything was taken apart.) Luckily the head unit was from the same year as mine and didn't need to be coded at the dealer. Any other year and it would have had to. I was informed it would be a $300 charge at the dealer.
IMO, I'd buy a Garmin and call it a day and pocket the rest. Get a tune or something else.
