Like without, so how do you get them off? Are they just stuck on there with glue and you can use a heat source to take them off?

Its very simple to remove the 3M double sided tape. I used a hair dryer to heat up the adhesive small section at a time and pulled it off. FYI: If u are using a heat gun be very careful b/c it can take the paint off. I had to learn it the hard way with my 350z.

I dig the Sport models without the chrome strip, as I found out already the strip is useless I thought it would safe guard against door dings...but nope lol got one anyway. If you have a Luxo model the chrome strips go all the way around the car (front bumper and rear bumper) and it looks good to have them down the sides as well.

I'm still undecided if I want to remove the chrome or not.

My chrome strips are already has oxidation spots (which polishing could not remove) and on a silver car the strips are very subtle and emphasizes the sporty character lines of the sides without drawing much attention. But then again I really like the clean look.

I like it. Really clean. It's funny, I always thought the chrome looked best on red.

Aowhaus: Did the chrome on your Passat mouldings have spots on them after a while? I had to polish mine with a Wizard product.

Exactly....mine is the pewter color, I think it looks longer and actually matches more with the chrome on the windows. I do think for brighter colors the RED and the deep black, it looks better without....for now, I will keep mine.

The car looks great without them! I did the same to my Obs black C350. Here are some pics for those that want to see it on a dark color:

On my Passat I did get some spots on the chrome trim, but they came off quite easily with a Porters power buffer and Einzett polish.
However on the MB I've tried the same thing but with no success.

I did remove the chrome strips last weekend and I am very happy with how it looks. The difference was very subtle as the chrome wasn't that noticable on silver. It came off very easily though the chrome trim did break in a few pieces which took longer than expected. The key is to pull off the chrome and double sided tape carefully and slowly and at a shallow angle so that it could pull off cleanly with very little breaks. It pulled off so cleanly that I didn't have to use any Goo Gone.

After a car wash it looks great.

I haven't taken any since, but I plan to. I was going to wait until I swapped suspension and added rear wheel spacers, but I'll see if I have time this weekend.
