Alarm Led Brighter/Replace?

Has anyone looked into replacing the alarm led light with a brighter one? The one I have seems rather dim.

Why would you want it to be brighter? The alarm does next to nothing anyway.... last I recall, someone can throw rocks through all of your windows and shatter them, reach in and steal everything out of your glovebox and cabin area and even vandalize the interior as there are no motion sensors, glass break sensors, etc. As long as they don't open the door... nothing goes off.

Its like having no alarm at all.

He is most likely correct, but I don't leave anything in my car worth anything ex. the car itself...so I was wondering if there was a way to make the led brighter or to replace it with a brighter one.

As far as I know there have been no changes to the "alarm system" in the vehicle from 07-08... just door sensors and a mercury/tilt sensor to detect if the vehicle is being towed away... if I recall...

Just don't leave anything of value visible anywhere in the car and you shouldn't have any problems. Thats what gloveboxes and trunks are for ;-)...

You may be able to "tap" into that blinking light to power other LEDs... or re-located the blinking light to all four doors or something Audi-like? I used to have a little "kit night rider"-type of bar that went back and forth whenever the car was armed on the top of the windshield... loved it :-).

...but then again, knowing these cars, it'll probably throw a warning if it draws too little or too much power if you tap into it. They tend to monitor everything.

Yeah my '05 Touareg had the alarm lights next to the FLUSH MOUNTED door locks/pins....my sisters 5 series has the HUGE red strobe under the front mirror, was just looking for something in between.

When I bring it in for the 1000 mile check up I will ask the tech's there if there is anything they can do to brighten it up.

From the owners manual:
Interior motion sensor A visual and audible alarm is triggered if your vehicle is locked and a movement is detected in the vehicle interior, e.g. if someone breaks your vehicle's side windows or reaches into the vehicle interior.

Looks like there is one...

IDK what owners manual you are looking at, but the 2008 C300/350 doesn't say anything about that...the current US system is made up of the Immoblizer (engine kill switch) and an anti-theft alarm system which says on pg. 66 "Once the alarm system has been armed, a visual and audible alarm is triggered when someone opens: a door, the trunk, the hood....the alarm system will also be triggered when - the vehicle is opened with the mechanical key, a door is opened from the inside, the trunk is opened with the emergency release button."

Since I will only receive my C300 4matic 2009 in August I can't tell for sure...

But I've found an owners manual at the following address:

Hello,
also I have an issue about the alarm led:
where can I place it?
There is a prefixed position?
Where is mounted on in genuine mercedes-benz alarm system(if exist)?
Can you post some pics?
Many thanks
