What tools do you use to clean wheels?

So far I have been using a rag and some Meguiars Wheel Spray, but I've seen some pretty nice brushes at the car wash.

What do you people use to clean your wheels?

I just use car soap and water. After drying the wheels w/ microfiber, I apply either Meguiar's Quick Detail or a wax. I have 10-spoke rims so it's a little time consuming.

There's this microfiber brush I have that's suitable up to 12inches of wheel width that attaches to a drill. It works wonders cleaning inside and out.

Same here. I usually soak a microfiber towel in the soapy water mixture, and try to grab as much liquid as possible before dumping all that onto the wheel. I do a preliminary wipe down, then wash off with the "Jet" setting on my hose. Then I go in for the details, washing all the little nooks and crannies of the wheels.

That's why I stick with 5 spokes. LOL. It takes long enough already.

dirty wheels

Keep those car wash brushes away from your car or you will regret it.

I purchased a bag of three wheel cleaning "brushes" ($9.99) from Griot's Garage a few weeks ago which have turned out to be perfect for getting in between the spokes on my 18s. They are item number 15220 in their catalog or website (www.griotsgarage.com) and are a folded-over-a-handle plastic foam which gets into the little corners.

I spray the wheels with P21S first, clean the spokes with the brushes and the wheel and tire with their car wash concentrate in water, of course. After flooding the brake calipers to wash out as much brake dust as possible and finishing the overall wash job, I drive the car a few blocks to blow off some of the water and dry out the brakes and finish drying at home.

P21S, a sponge, and a flexible head toothbrush.
