Airbag Labels - GONE in 60 Seconds (each)

Airbag Labels - GONE in 60 Seconds (each)
So...I was stressing because I had peeled up one corner of the airbag label on my way to work this morning. I could not get it to "lay back down" and it looked horrible. I then went online and read how difficult it was to get them off...and that I needed "Goo Gone" or "Goof Off" and that the process was messy. I stressed about it all day at work...and when I went out to the parking lot (to my HOT C300) the label looked WORSE...almost flaking off on the edge that I peeled up.
The inside of the car was very hot, so I decided to just "go for it". I began peeling the label from the edge that was already up..and the label began to TOTALLY come off in one piece. It began to break apart and there was some nasty sticky residue being left behind...but I used the label itself to continually "bump and pull" all of the sticky residue off. I keep doing it until there was NOTHING left on the visor...no sticky mess...NO airbag label. I then looked over at the passenger side and said, "What the Hell"...and pulled it off. Again I got some sticky stuff left behind...but kept using the label...bumping the sticky stuff on IT...to remove the sticky stuff on the visor.
Each side took about a minute...and there is NOTHING left of the label on the visor...except for what appears to be a small "indention" of where the label was. I am totally happy with how my black visors look now with no glaring yellow stickers.
I understand that the folks that tried to remove them in colder weather had a horrible time with them. But if you get into your car when it has been sitting in the hot sun all day...they come off in under a minute.
Be patient...keep using the label to "pull off" the residue and you will have VERY CLEAN visors.
I take no responsibility for what might happen when you try it...but seriously...they came TOTALLY off for me in under a minute each.
Good Luck!!

Nice "mod," I guess? I'm sure it adds to the cleanliness of the look. But isn't it required by law to leave the sticker on, at least in CA, USA? I could be wrong...

I hope you didn't lease your car.
I don't see how a simple sticker like that becomes intrusive/annoying enough to warrant it to be removed.
They are heat melted on so they pose a huge problem for those who want to remove them.

The manufacturer is required to install the labels. The owner can do as he pleases. Can you imagine the worker at the emission test station peering inside, looking for the label? Ever seen it happen?
Some of them are lucky just to find their way to work.

I can simulate Phoenix in August at 12 noon with a hair dryer, methinks. Gonna try it.

NOPE
It wasn't the WORST thing to keep them on...but so much cleaner once removed. I am sure a lot of folks wish they weren't there.
Not a problem at all to remove in a hot car.....took about a minute each.

Bump...
Thanks for the tip !!
I did this just this morning on my way to work. Peeled the stickers right off and rolled the residue up into a little sticky ball with my thumb. Looks nice and neat now.
I can see a bare trace of residue on the surface that I'm sure will come off altogether with a quick wipe of some Goo-Gone.

tip: for the "residue" left when u de-batch or de-sticker, petrol is ur best friend
and also to clean dirty oil stains in ur engine bay
i always do that when i change my fuel filters, jus use the ones left in the fuel filter that i took out to clean around my engine bay
i never try on plastic tho so im not sure if itll melt the plastic, works perfect on glass and penal bodies, jus apply some on cloth and simple "wipe" the sticky residual off, works like magic

I can just imagine MBz going crazy when the dealers start reporting all these w204's coming in where the airbag stickers have "fallen off".
MBz services will initiate a big investigation, suppliers will be called in and raked over the coals for "defective stickers", and eventually a recall will be made where new stickers will be issued that "won't fall off".
The 2010 will get a new visor design with the warning sticker molded and embedded right into the cover all because we decided to be non-comformists!!

Yeah, I wish mine was a sticker I could just peel off.. my sun visors are some kind of rubberized plastic with the warning pretty much melted into it... which is why I'm paying to have them redone in alcantara.
