And the fronts just unscrewed? Looks better but would still like metal ones (with nice trim rings). I wonder if w203 pins would work for the front then epoxy the rear ones on in place of the originals?

They are better than before as far as how far they protrude. And Yes- they do screw on. I like the AMG pins featured in this link but I don't think the poster states where he got them.
