I wondered about those. Not sure how much brake dust builds up in the rears usually though. Never really an issue in previous cars, only the fronts.

Accidentally found this today.
With an IPhone, if you activate the voice control on the IPhone (press and hold the button), the "dink dink" noise comes through the bluetooth, and the Iphone accepts the voice input from the car's microphone.

I haven't been able to find a way to trigger IPhone voice control from any of the car's controls. So far, it has to be triggered on the phone itself.

Great thread...I read the manual, but there are some very handy tidbits here.

Most useful to me:

*The location of the aux input behind the panel by the glove compartment.
*The key trick to change how the car unlocks (1+3 vs. all four at the same time).
*The all windows down/up with the key fob at the door sensor.

I still can't figure out a few things though, like how to get my mirror to tilt down when I'm in reverse. I've tried the method in the manual and the other method here and neither work. Do I just not have the feature? Also, when I get texts, the COMAND system doesn't offer to display or read it aloud. Is that a phone compatibility issue? Because there is a menu that offers to read texts aloud, but I never get prompted for it.

Also, how do you use the onboard HDD? Does a special menu pop up when you input a disc? Is that the only way to store music to the harddrive?

The trick for using the recirculate air button to automatically roll up all the windows doesn't work on my vehicle either.

**Something I found out by talking to a body shop guy about deleting the fog light issue on the 2012 tail lamps retrofit is that you can manually activate your front fog lamps by pulling the headlight knob out from the dash - like the crown of a nice watch. The first click activates the front fog lights and the second click adds the rear fog light, but only the left rear for me.

i dont know if it applies to all the w204's but if you're stopped at a light and you press the brake pedal harder a "hold" function turns on and you can remove your foot from the brake pedal and the car wont move until you press the accelerator.

if you leave your radio on when you turn off the car, when you start the car again you avoid the legal message about not using the navi while driving. ( my BMW gives me the stupid legal message no matter what)

i actually hadn't noticed this before, but the glovebox door has a coin holder, business card holder and pen holder. also underneath the "long" side of the armrest there's a little rubber case... i like to throw change in there as it doesn't make noise.

Tried the Hold thing and didn't seem to work. Must not have depressed it enough.

I still get a warning from the display about not letting it distract me.

Knew about the little rubber case, not sure what to use if for. My coins go in the removed ash tray. Will have to look for the coin holder et al in the glove box.

I also found out today by accident that if you want to access your iPod that's connected through the integration cable, you can just hit the "DISC" button if you don't have any CDs in it. It's easier than selecting "Audio" then scrolling down to "Aux".

I also struggled to activate the 'hold' function initially. The trick is to quickly depress the brake pedal further... once the car has come to a halt.

i just remembered, i was always trying to see where the little light on the temp knob was at and then i realized a little bar comes up on the navi screen telling you what you're setting it at, so you don't have to stare down at the temp controls.

Not sure if its been featured, but it wasn't in the first post. Found out the other day that there is a seek function while using an iPod in my 2008 C300. When viewing the song in the dash (the Audio menu), simply hold the up or down arrow on the steering wheel and a little percentage will appear where it normally says "iPod>" (or whatever) letting you scrub through a song.

It was an amazing find for me!

HDD

Also, how do you use the onboard HDD? Does a special menu pop up when you input a disc? Is that the only way to store music to the harddrive?

If you go into the engineering menu (press phone hangup, 1, and # for several secs), go to 7.7.15, you can change the "musicserver func" from "Ripping" to "Copy". This will allow you to use the PCMCIA card slot to bring in MP3's. Warning: changing from ripping to copy, or vice versa, will delete all music currently stored on the HDD! You can either rip CDs, or copy files, not both.

Once you make this change, you have to wait 5-10 minutes before the change will show up. Now insert the PCMCIA card, or a data cd with mp3's on it. Go to the music register, select music register, select copy music files. Pick the card or cd, then whether you want all songs or certain ones, and they will be loaded on to the HDD!

This works on my 09 C63...

the "hold" function for the brakes are mostly in the newer models, i.e. 2011-2012. thats what i think anyways since ive driven a '09 and a '10 c class loaner. those didnt have the function but my 2012 does. and the side mirror tilt when reversing only works with memory seats. if you do have memory seats and it doesnt work, then put your car in reverse and press the button for the right side mirror. then tilt it down to where you want it to and then press "M" and "1" or "2" whichever button u are on. then put it back to park or drive and if it doesnt tilt back up after about 5-7 seconds, adjust the mirror back up to your regular driving pref. and then again press "M" and "#" it worked for me so hopefully it works for u too.

I've tried the memory/mirror thing a few times without success. I'll give it another shot though.

I guess this feature is on 2012 only, not on 2011?

Mine is 2011. I remember I set it this way: Put it in "R", press the passenger side mirror button, adjust mirror so I could see curb. that's it.
The only thing to remember is NOT to press the driver side mirror button.
As long as last button I pressed is the passenger side, it always works. Don't need to save the setup in memory 1, 2 or 3.

is there a "secret" way to turn the traction control fully off on a standard C? My c220 cdi's traction control keeps coming back on once the wheel looses traction for abit, nearly like sport mode on my c63.
