Idea for CF grille

Another post showed pics of CF pieces for our cars but didn't think CF grille was possible (suggested CF overlay on blades instead.) I found this site a while back and have been begging for a reason to order some.
What do you think?

Interesting idea.....might be a b!tch to cut to size though.

BTW..that yellow lotus on that website looks horrible and the owner should be beaten about the face and neck with a bag of nickels.

I've thought about doing this too, to different places on the car. But I just worry about yellowing and fading without a UV-protected clear coat and such that a more professional application would have (hopefully). My car spends a lot of time in the California sun. Around these parts, there are many terribly wrapped cars and motorcycles with terrible looking (i.e. stupid faded) CF trim everywhere.

I might be wrong but it didn't look like there was any coating on the CF. The yellowing is usually from cheap gel coat (urethane, opoxy or whatever else they use). I have a raw CF Wallet I have had for years and although I know it doesn't get the UV exposure I think it held up so well because it didn't have a coating on it. Just a thought.
I think I'll buy another grille and experiment.

Another option is a water transfer faux carbon fiber look:

I did this to mine (pic above doesn't have the star back on yet...that is still being done in CF look)...I did the trim rings too and plan to pull all the chrome trim (side molding/door handles/rear trunk) from my car and do a CF look on them too.

I'm not a big fan of anything "faux" but it's interesting nonetheless. What's the cost on something like this, say, for the grill?

That Faux carbon looks real nice from the pics. I would love to see it in person to see the weave pattern against real carbon. Could be an alterantive till real comes along.

I haven't got the final cost on the project yet. I'm suppose to get one bill for the grill, front and rear headlight trim, and chrome body trim/handle accents. I'll post all that when I get the final cost. In person it looks really good.

Here is a URL that goes over the process:

Here is another example of water transfer finish inside my car:

Rear Screen Surround

Double DIN surround

I had the same apprehension but the grill turned out really nice. I'll PM you once I get a final price. I got a spare grill off Ebay.

It's not a perfect match to other real Carbon Fiber bits on the car but it really came close...

Rear Diffuser

Engine C/F

Side Mirror (overlay)

Front Lip

Link doesn't work. I did some searching on Google this water transfer is interesting. I would love to find someone local to me that does it.
