The remedy is that they will have to tighten up the front differential torque for all 4-MATIC models to resolve the "howling" noise. It did resolve the issue on my car. According to them, I was the 1st one who brought it to their attention.
They did not know what to do at first until they receive the specific "trial-and-error" fix instruction from Germany. It worked and the dealer will send a message back to the factory that the front differntial torque should be tightened up a bit more. Any future 4-MATIC production line cars should not have the howling noise anymore.
That's probably why there is a delay for July production cars.

I'm assuming that the issue here is Production Testing versus Design Testing. In production testing, you verify that the as-built car is built to spec. Who tests it? Well, evidently customers do. There must be thousands of things that can "slip" during a production run, and if they don't put lots of miles on each car coming off the line, they may not find a slippage until the customer brings it in for repair or complaint.

I don't think so, why would they delay all the C-Class orders for a quick fix on the 4MATIC...
No I'm sure it's for something else, my dealership told me it was because they have to many orders...
Maybe maybe not but even if that's not true I don't think it has anything to do with the 4MATIC torque.

I had this issue, howling on descelleration at 70km, 30km and 125km, they tried the same fix as yours but it only reduced the noise so they also modified the gear shift rod by shortening it 1/4" and this eliminated the noise.
