chromeless sides...finally... with pics
i feel like an idiot for how long this took me. i started out using one piece of floss and it kept ripping like every time i got a half inch into the molding. finally figured out that i needed to triple up on the floss and douse the molding in goo gone.
p.s. i turned my wheels the wrong way for the pic

I personally don't mind if they are on there or not.
It def looks good on a black car though (with out the molding)
Ron, I have to assume that the dealers won't notice the molding unless there is a C class parked next to it.
I ripped apart IS300 which was a lease, and back to almost stock. They didn't even bother to look under the hood or anything. Just a quick mileage check.
Give it a shot!

Do you think it looks better with or without? Now that you've done it and see it in person. I mean I like chrome but it kinda looks sleek without it. I'm thinking of maybe doing it.

i love it dude. i didnt think it would make that much of a difference but it really does. it gives the illusion of the car riding lower and it reminds me very much of the profile of a cls instead of a c. i'm really happy i did it.

Most definitely looks better without that cheap chrome on the side! I took an expired credit card to take off my side chrome strips the second day I bought the car. Your car looks much better Any plans on blacking out your girl?

Good job!
I like it better with out the chrome molding I think it looks a lot cleaner the C63 comes with out that chrome molding, I used a heat gun to remove them, is a lot easier and it took me about 5 minutes each side

side chrome removal looks nice on black cars in my opinion. its very clean AZN you should remove your trim.

yeah, I've been considering doing it, just haven't gotten around to it. It's not as big a deal for white cars imo, but yeah, I'll probably end up taking it off. Been spending my free time researching more major mods. Damn this thread was over 2 months ago :p

looks good
Black - mos def.
white - mos def.
others - dont matter to me.
So when you use floss, do you dip it into goo gone or just poor it over the chrome? use the goo gone before or after taking it off?

because the other day, i was looking at my trim, and I used to think it looked great... but all of a sudden, maybe it was the lighting or something... but it just didn't fit and seemes to clutter the otherwise smooth lines...

I think it looks sportier without the chrome strips I even did the ummm "stripping" myself took a fishing line and peeled of the strips which left the 3m tape residue on the side but use the Goo Gone and itll easily wipe away and you'll be goood De-chromed in steel grey ...

Ron if you could carefully remove the strips without bending it, you could always re-apply the strip with the 3M auto tape.
the entire piece is held with 3M so it shouldn't be a problem.
my car is a 3yr lease and I applied the front grille and black rear taillight frames, as well as the painted amber lights.
they can easily be removed or placed back in to its original state
by the time our leases are up.
