Does anyone know the exact location of the fuel tank, what it is made of & whether it has a drain ? It is not obviously seen when lying under the car.

1. If someone mistakenly fills with gasoline instead of diesel I will be able to drain it.
2. It is useful to drain a litre off a diesel tank occasionially to remove any accumulated dirt or water.

For a very long time, MB's sedan tanks have been under the area of the rear seat, projecting slightly into the trunk [boot] area, just short of the spare tire cutout, and forward of the differential. This is for maximum crash protection.
I've had no reason to try to find it on our car, but if you want to look, start there.

Tanks
The tanks are forward of the diff on each side of the driveshaft. The flex fuel C300's tanks are made of a different material than the other models so as to avoid being eaten by ethanol.
