Got windows tinted!
Got 35% all around, 3M Color Stable. I think it looks perfect with Palladium Silver! I'm not one that likes super dark tint anyways.

looks good, ive been debating whether or not to tint my (iridium silver) car. but it looks really good. i heard that our windows come a little tinted already so if i did 35% all around it will be a little darker than that.

off to the side of the topic
I do have a question for those of you who have had the tint done.
I asked my dealer about it yesterday, and he claimed that "while MB will not explicitly state you cannot do it, we do not provide it and would not recommend it." When I queried that further, the response was "the two major reasons are that our windows are designed to eliminate noise levels. Window Tinting will therefore scratch with constant opening and closing. Thus we will not offer it as we cannot warranty it. Some tinting providers realise this, so as to provide the warranty, they either loosen or remove the sleeve to avoid that."
So ... the obvious question; how much of this is BS and how much is true? Any experience either way?

I find this a load of BS, my dealer will gladly do tinting, however they will just tear u a new one, with their pricing! Tint has come a long way then what it use to be, even with lease cars my dealer has no problem with tinting, cuz technically its just a film that can eventually be removed if really needed.

Some people have felt or moleskin applied to the seals to prevent scratching, but not everyone does it. The place I got my tint installed mentioned nothing about felt or moleskin but still obviously gave me 3M's warranty on it(I dont think it covers scratched tint though?). I dont know if Mercedes' seals are really THAT much different than any other reputable carmaker.

I just walked into a completely different MB dealer this evening - asked the same question ... the response was basically the same:
"we will not tint"
"we will not recommend tinting"
"If 'something'** happens to the windows, we will assume it was the tint and not cover under warranty"
** read:anything
... on top of that ... no pre-tinted options are available in Australia
What?
Argh!

C220d Estate Avantgarde, Obsidium black, command, factory tint. MB CLK240 Iolith Blue / Pebble-Gone
I am in Australia,
I was wondering if in the US you have tinted windows as an option?? I can understand for those that get their cars off the floor that they might want to add tint film. But those that order their cars should get the tint option its more but the plus is you never have to worry about your wife tapping on the passenger window with her long fingernail indicating which direction to go. So as to avoid future yelling to the effect, "STOP THAT you'll scratch the tint", this time around i got the factory tinted glass. problem is it only comes from the b pillar back so i got that and i got the avantgard so that comes with the bluish glass which i will live with notwithstanding i think my to be delivered obsidium black estate would look better with 35 all round.
can someone confirm whether tinted glass is available in the US, please - i am wondering about that.
cheers
