Here in Canada you either get all or none, not one side. First time I hear about this. Weird. I agree: WTF?

I'm surprised the price of the base C300 remains unchanged due to it's popularity and low U.S. dollar.
Is that true, C350 in Germany and C300 in SA?

You're dead right. Should be thankful the real increase wasn't passed on, probably by sourcing from SA mostly, and hedging the dollar against the euro for the 350.

The current price increase will barely cover the extra shipping fuel costs.

US car sales are way down, this price increase will put alot of pressure on dealers to negotiate.

This is nothing new. Our 1996 C220 has a power driver's seat with door controls and a manually-adjustable passenger seat.

you wonder whats true and what isn't regarding US car sales figures, especially for an imported car where unsold inventory is held offshore, diverted to other countries, etc.

Don't complain Last I checked with a dealer in Singapore, a C350 with AMG sports package and 18" rims, leather seats, xenons, panaramic roof, keyless go, almost full spec'd I must say, costs US$165,000 The strange thing is, the earliest is December delivery. Do you guys have to wait that long?

HOLY CRAP!!! I guess a $1300 increase is not that bad compare to your pain. I still am not happy about it, but after seeing what other markets pay for the car I am glad the US version is price where it is. How much would a car like the Cadillac CTS cost you in Singapore?

Hold on folks -- I have yet to even see a C-class that wasn't manufactured in from the Bremin plant in Germany... I Don't think they are being made in SA yet...

My C300 is from Bremin. Anyone have a SA made car? People always mention "Mine's from germany, etc" but no one on here (as far as I've read) has outright said, "I got an african one"

I continue to see posts like this and the pay has to be relative so it's not like we get the car so much cheaper and nothing else is calculated in.

A $165,000 car is a lot of money here in the states and only the rich of rich could afford it. If a C-Class Mercedes costs that much your average income must be a lot higher than ours as none of us would even come close to being able to buy it and I'm speaking from being in the upper end of middle class and making more than the median income.

I'd like to start getting info on who's vehicle was built in South Africa... And where these cars are being supplied. At this point, I wonder if they are even making any for the US, etc -- in which case the inflation/value of the weak dollar for C350 vs C300 doesn't really apply here.

I don't get what the big deal is, all cars go up every year regardless of changes. Pointless to moan about it, just get the best deal you can.

Its RHD in Singapore, we don't have any Cadillac here. For comparison sake, 335Ci=US$183k, CLS350=US$200k, C63=M3=US$265k, SL350=US$278k, CL500=US$350k, CL63=US$460k.

And nope, our Per Capita GDP is lower than US. Car pricing here is a factor of taxes and sucker-ness of Singapore motorists. We score high on both counts.

Just bought a 2009 C350 a couple weeks ago. Yes, it was a price increase on the 2009 model, and yet at the current economy dealers were more willing to negotiate the price, so it even out a little and was not that bad in my case.

My wife and I prefer the memory seats option so we opt for the 2009 model. Otherwise, there are quite some 2008 models around and dealers are even more willing to negotiate on them.

Either choice, it is a buyers' market so happy shopping.

With best regards,
