Price Hike C350

OMG, prices are now released and the C350 now starts at $39,075. freakin god, thats over a 1 thousand dollar increase, for the exact same car. if it got the new engine, then i could justify the price.

the C300 stays the same at $32,975

Hmmm let's see:

2008: MSRP $36,900+875 Dest= $37,775
2009: MSRP $38,200+875 Dest= $39,075

Variance: $1,300 WTF just for the memory seats

Don't tell me because the Euro went up, when the C300 MSRP didn't go up

P1 package on the C300 went up about the same amount that the overall price of the 350 went up, so it's not exactly a surprise.

I agree it's expensive though.

My memory fails me now, but didn't the C300 start lower than that with the manual tranny?

Unhappy Bear in Mind Dollar to Euro Erosion

Yes, it is a bummer whenever the price goes up, but bear in mind that the USD to Euro exchange rate has experienced an unprecedented swing during the last year; and German suppliers and workers are paid in Euros.

On 7/10/07 a Euro cost $1.36, by 7/16/08 that same Euro was $1.59!! Also, transportation costs are rising in response to the zooming oil/fuel prices. I am actually surprised that MB is trying to hold the line at $875 for transportation and just increasing the US pricing on some models by as little as they have.

I realize this is not going to be a popular, but MB is trying to run a business and would not want to disadvantage themselves in the very competitive US market unless they had no other recourse.

A possible silver lining (if that's actually possible) coming out of the price increase is that it should help shore-up the resale value of prior models years (effectively yielding less depreciation).

I don't know about you but I would not bet on the dollar/euro thing improving anytime soon, and so expect 2010s to cost even more. The message here is that if are seriously considering buying one of these cars it may be a good time to get in early on the new model year and head-off any further price surprises down the road.

Yes, it used to be $31XXX, but it did not include destination. The new $32XXX includes destination.

Ok -- Sorry, but I feel the need to mention it. Its already 38+ thousand dollars. Whats the big deal about a measly $1k. If your that concerned over that amount of money, perhaps your looking at the wrong car and should be exploring something more in your financial bracket. Sorry, but really now...

I am sorry but that is kind of an ignorant response. Most of us are in the position to afford a MB because we invest our money wisely, have good jobs where we need to make well though out decisions, and consider the cost/benefit of our spending. I am sure there are many of us that can afford an S-class, but that is not what we need/want. MB is a business trying to make a profit, I get that, but as a global business they most likely are using derivatives to manage their exposure to currency exchange rate, transportation cost, fuel costs, etc. An increase of $1300 for memory seats does not sound like a wise investment to me, I am going to be talking to my dealer on this and may end up canceling my order. If there was a larger engine that I was paying for then maybe the increase would be justified, but for memory seats, I don’t think so…

p.s.
If you have $1k that you don’t want, send it over to me, I will gladly take it. That still would not make me feel that I was getting a good deal on the ’09 MB.

Ok -- I admit that I didn't consider the "value for the money" with regards to the comparative products, etc. However - you do realize that you are getting quite a few extra features/items for that $1k right? You get those great LED lights for locator lighting under the side mirrors, a compass in the rearview mirror, memory seats and power steering column, etc. All of this stuff adds up well over $1k worth of items, certainly. Now the fact that they force P1 to be part of the base C350, theres something to complain about....

Yeah, but they could have at least put seats controls on BOTH the driver and passenger doors - not just driver. It looks plain stupid having only door mounted seat controls on one side of the car... NOT what I expected from Mercedes.

2008 C300 Sport 4matic
That's the sad reality of the very weak U.S. dollar.
I'm guessing since the C350 is built in Germany and the C300 is built in South Africa, the C350 took a bigger hit with the exchange rate.
I'm surprised the price of the base C300 remains unchanged due to it's popularity and low U.S. dollar.

The C300 went up in price too, the Lux and Sport 4matic models are the same price now, the Sport 4matic model used to be cheaper. This could be a website error though?

True, but I'd also say that a big force that is driving the popularity of the 300 in the US is the low price. A MB for under $35K out the door sure seems attractive to those that might consider stretching their automobile budget a bit.

Well thats clearly because the 2010 model will have memory seats on both sides ;-)... Thats what they did with my C280... That car had memory seats for driver only in MY 06, then in MY 07, it was memory for both driver and front passenger...

They gotta hold back a little something ;-)

well, I think all the packages went up
P1 is $2150, was $1400. (for c300)
P2 is $3500, was $2750.
MM went up by $30.
Panorama went up by $50
18" AMG wheels went up by $10
Automatic transmission, no price yet (for c300)

correct me if i'm wrong.

So my 09 c300 gonna cost me an addictional $840. not bad though.
