Damn Dealership
Well the saga continues. My car has been at the dealership since 9am (had an appointment since last week). They called me at 3pm and didn't know if my car was going to be fixed. I know they said it takes 2.5 hrs for each door to have the lock pins replaced. They called me at 6pm and said they had bad news. The tech scratched my $300 Formula 1 Pinnacle Ceramic tint while repairing the door. They said they were going to fix it but their tint guy could not do it until tomorrow at 11am. OK- Fine! Now they called back and said their tint guy never heard of that film and they are telling me to take it myself (1 hr drive) back to where I had it installed and have them repair it and they'll send me a check for the cost. WHAT?!
So I'm supposed to take another day out of my time- drive an hour away-spend X amount $'s in gas to fix something an alleged Premier Mercedes Dealer in Central Florida damaged. If I don't- they will probably have some service rider drive my car there or they will try to fix it with some other less expensive film and hope I don't see the difference. I'm over this. This frickin car is becoming a headache.

Not the rear pins. They are connected to the lock hose assembly. When the pin pulls off- it is cracked and will not stay on. They have to remove the door panel and the entire locking assembly to repair. I would have said "screw it" since I want the aluminum anyway but the passenger side cable disconnected inside the door and now I have it documented.

i had my brand new car (3 weeks old) scratched by the service department when they were fixing my wheel alignment. Thankfully, they owned it and did a touch-up.

This is what I would do:
Log your miles and the time it takes to get to (and from) the Tint shop.
Get your tint fixed, make sure you get an invoice.
Create your own reimbursement invoice that includes the invoice from the Tint shop, plus an appropriate reimbursement for mileage (check the IRS website, you should ask for at least $0.50 per mile). And an hourly rate of loss of income or opportunity cost that it took you to get it done.
Or, ask the guy at your tint shop and see if he'll come down to your house to fix it, and tell him you'll pay him whatever it takes
