2010 C300 ACC Power for Reverse Camera
I got my VIM & Reverse Camera Kit from Mid City. VIM installed and works great, now for the Reverse Camera
Kenwood CMOS-200 Power Wiring Question:
1) You know how you have 2 power sources Needles. A) Reverse Light B) Accessory Power.
After i run everything to the back, where do i run the Accessory Power to? Instruction says to run the power to the Engine Key, but it seems that most people are running the power from somewhere else? Where do i run the power to because it has to be a NON CONSTANT Power Source.
Any help or info would be much appreciated.
Thanks..

If you are talking about power for the Camera you need to run it to reverse light because thats the only time you need it on.

Thank you for the for the help, but there are 2 power wires. 1) that connects to the Reverse Lights, 2) one is suppose to connect to the ignition power or something that does not have Constant Power. Does anyone have any advise on where to connect that wire to?

FAKRA Cable, IPOD connector
What kind of FAKRA-to-female RCA cable do I need? Specifically:
1. Is it type A or E?
2. Is it male or female FAKRA? (e.g, jack or plug)
3. Does it matter if it's right angle or straight?
I'm going to try to have one made for me and I need to know the specs. Also, not sure if it makes a difference, but I have the Ipod kit in the car. Does that make any difference in terms of available jacks in the back of MM unit for the camera line?
If anyone can shed light on this, i'd appreciate it... thanks!

They quoted me $32 w/ shipping. Looking for something cheaper. From scouring the forum , I think it's a FAKRA E (green) jack. Preferable right angle but it seems that some have been able to get away with a straight connector. I think the only thing i'm unsure of right now is if having the iPod kit complicates anything.

Hi
Does anyone have instructions on how to run the cable from the passanger seat to the boot?
I've gone as far as taking the head unit apart and the cable is ran to the rear bottom sills, but I can't fingure out how to remove the trim by the rear to the boot?
Any ideas?
Thanks

You have to almost take apart the left rear or right rear of the trunk (depending on which side you're running the wires). I ran it via the passenger side and diassembled the whole trunk to route and store the cables neatly. Those little tabs that hold the carpeting in place needs to be removed.

which camera???
Well, I finally got around to going into the engineering menu and telling my 2008 C350 that a camera was installed. I was rewarded by the appropriate screen saying "Check Entire Surroundings" when in reverse. Yeah!
But, I haven't purchased a camera yet. I see that some of you have had good luck with the Kenwood CCD 2000, but that camera has been discontinued. Does anyone have a good suggestion for a camera? My installer suggested one which actually replaces one of the license plate lights, but I haven't been able to find it on-line. Any ideas???

The kenwood CMOS-200 is actually the replacement for the CCD-2000. You don't have to use the license plate lights, because there is actually predrilled holes for the camera.

Which camera (con't)????
Thanks, I just wanted to confirm with someone who has installed the CMOS-200 to be sure that left and right aren't reversed, or something goofy like that.
(ps. I also have a steel gray metallic, but about half as many horses as you have!)

Don't feel bad. I had a 2009 Steel Grey Metallic C350, before I traded it for this 2010 C63. Same options, same color. Except for the pano option that the C63 doesn't offer. The factory rear camera location is on the passenger side of the car. That's the side I routed my cables.

Remember when you purchase the camera, you must buy the NTSC camera (not PAL).

Newbie to the forum but want to thank everyone for this DIY and everyone's contribution. Was thinking about adding on the rearview camera, but also wanted to ask if having the factory ipod kit complicates it? Don't want any surprises going in. Has anyone done this setup who had the factory ipod kit, and if so, was it any different? Thanks.

The only addition we might add to this thread is this.... I am an automotive video engineer and CMOS cameras STINK. They will not work in low light, cold weather or hot weather. ALWAYS get a CCD camera.... always. The reason CMOS cameras are so cheap is "you get what you pay for"

This has nothing to do with the factory Ipod kit.

I had the old CCD-2000 on the old car installed, but I also had a CMOS camera that I bought but never installed for a friend. It cost the same as my CCD-2000. What's different about the CMOS camera? Last I checked, the CMOS one had better specs.
