I just think there is nothing wrong to put AMG since the car REALLY has authentic AMG product (AMG body kit, front bumper, rear bumper, side skirts, spoiler). But i don't agree to put C63 on because it's really not a C63.

it's not a question of SHOULD or SHOULDN'T. I think it's a personal preference of want to or not.
I just think the sports model has the signiture AMG style. it's a good representation of the AMG body style, it's appearance. So, there shouldn't be a problem with putting a AMG badge. cause people know it's a AMG body style C300 or C350. That's not really posing
But if you change the C300 or C350 to C63, then that will be posing.

Certainly it's a personal preference, an embarassing one in my opinion. Having AMG style parts is certainly different than being modified by AMG. Kinda like a guy sporting TRD badges all over his Corolla just because he simply has a TRD air filter. Catch my drift??

I only wish that we could screen potential owners for the gene/loose screw that promotes these decisions... Why would you do this to a 40k Benz?

To each their own...

The best things Ive seen with badges are a mustang with Skyline GTR badges and a Toyota Privia ( I think thats the name, Minivan ) with Type R badges.

Talk about embarrassing but these people were oblivious to it.

yes, totally personal preference.
I think it also has something to do with the amount of work/products that are on the vehicle. I wouldn't put Brabus badge on my car just because i got the Brabus door pin. But I certainly will put the badge on if I have the full body kit.

it's also the same as people debadging their cars. If they have a C63 or S600, they probably won't do that.

You'd be surprised. MB gives the factory option of debadging in Europe and most of the 600 or higher end model owners opt for this.

I've never seen a C63 in person, as of yet. However, I've seen in person debadged BMW 335 coupe, BMW M3, BMW M5, MBZ S63, MBZ S600, and Porsche Boxter S, all "better" models in the line up. Personal preference, I'm guessing. It's true, though, usually only the lower model owners debadge. And that makes people like me, who like the clean debadged look, feel as if they're posing. My C300 is debadged.

I'd never badge mine as a C63, nor would I put an AMG badge on it (see above: clean look). But if others feel like doing that, who cares?

Just saw a silver Passat with a black trunk. Not so good on a VW either...

maybe stopping at the spoiler would work, I dunno.

I like the idea of continuing the black pano into the trunk, just in practice, not so much.

I think you're getting a little confuse here. How can someone debadging a highend model is the same as someone badging something they don't have. Debadging a C63 or S600, is you have it but don't wanna show off. Having a C-300 but badging AMG on it is showing off something you DON'T have.

Now, at least we get to know who the posers are on here.

Hmm here's a theory to all of you: maybe the owners debadge because it looks better. Lateeda.
What, are people going to bebadge the MB star because they are embarrassed to drive a Benz? No.

I am actually not against putting AMG badge as long as you have the AMG sport model and not put C63 on the other side.

BUT YOU DO HAVE AMG STYLE BODY KIT!! Tell me, would you put brabus badge on the car or would you think it's wrong to do that for someone doing a whole brabus body style but no brabus engine tune?
it's not posing if you don't change to C63.

Brabus/Lorinser/Renntech/Kleemann/etc. badging guidelines are different from modern AMGs because AMG is IN-HOUSE now.

there is a "BADGING GUIDELINE"??!!!!
I think this is getting a bit too much. I don't have AMG badge on my car, but i think moderation of something is ok. Perhaps the person just want to show his love for the AMG body style. Maybe the person has luxury model and actually put a whole AMG body kit on his car. It is authentic AMG parts afterall (not even replicas). So long as he/she doesn't try to pose as a real AMG C63. i have no problem with that.

once again, It's personal preference. I think we can stop this topic here now.

This is not a wrong or right decision. It's obvious that our body style (W204)is AMG, no need to scream it out. Like the guy driving an Accord with Accord sticker across his winshield. You do whatever you want, it's your car. Just don't be mad at the people that will laugh at you.

I don't have the AMG badge, so i am ok.
But just curious. what do you think about the people that put C63 diffusor and exhaust? they are trying to look like C63. is that ok?

Maybe back in the days when converting your Integra to look like a Prelude or JDM Type-R is cool, but not with a Benz. It's a luxury car! Here's my 2-cents to your question:

A good point. I like the quad exhaust but I don't want to be that guy that gets run down on the freeway only for someone with a much faster car to notice I only have a C350 when they get closer.

Ok, my last comment. I agree with you on this. The guy totally went overboard trying to make his car look exactly like C63. He could have gone with any other body kit with all the money he spent. But he said he just love the AMG C63 body style more than anything else. So right there, no need to keep bashing the guy.
I just thought a little AMG badge is harmless. It represents the body style, not the engine modification. that's quite ok.

I think MOST people stick a retarded AMG badge (sometimes from eBay, all crooked and badly manufactured) on their cars because they hope to fool other retarded people into thinking that they've paid more for their cars than they really did. It's stupid. I mean, who are they trying to fool here? Those who are "in the know" with the MBZ brand will recognize fakery in a heartbeat, and those who don't know... well, who cares about fooling them? The ones I really don't understand are people with S600s rebadging those as S63. Can we say, "insecurity + inferiority complex"?

BUT,

+1 The idea of a "badging guideline" is laughable.

Especially,

+1,000,000,000

This topic has been pretty much discussed to death and beyond and back and beyond again and again and again and again. In multiple threads, with the same people repeating the same hackneyed opinions. Yes, those "same people" includes me. Wow. Aren't we all sick of this discussion yet?

I don't plan on putting an AMG badge on my car, but not because I think people will laugh at me. I could care less what others think about MY car. I just don't like badges, period. However if I see others do it, power to them.

Back on original topic: I still think that black trunk on the white car is ugly. Perhaps CF may look better, but the panda look is getting played out quite quickly. Too bad I couldn't have jumped on it sooner. What about you guys? (Let's get back on original topic!)
