Hey, which of the DC area dealers did you buy it from? 10% discount doesn't sound bad at all.

Thanks,

Victor

Hooded Instruments

I can see why they went to the hoods. There are times in the late afternoon when I just cannot see the dials because of glare from the sun (yeah, we do get sun sometimes, don't tell anyone!). Adding the hoods may make it easier to read the dials and messages.

But I like the appearance of the '08, it's cleaner.

Also, When I saw a Lux model without the aluminum trim on the dials, it just didn't look right at all. That white/light colored ring looks bad against a darker surround. My 2 cents.

The "hooded gauges" have been on the ML and R since 06..and then the GL. Guess they felt the C class needed to be tied into the truck lineup somehow lol. As for the brochures, they just use the same pictures year after year and just photoshop in the changes. I tend to collect the brochures and for the most part they will take the same picture from the last years book and either just change the color or wheels. So they either got lazy and didn't want to take a new picture of the interior, or it was a last minute change.

Is this a new feature for 09s? A place to store your clocks.

It was on the 2008 model (so you saw correctly), but the 2009 model has discontinued it.

This is the main reason I dislike "Hooded" gauge clusters. At quick glances some or part of the dials get cut-off in view. The flat dials are kind of 80's looking but always easy to read the whole layout quickly and accurately.

ya i agree some angles cut off the dials
also i dont like how the needle is white rather orange, it's harder to distinguish ur speed at quick glance

my 08 gauges look like that, they are not really hooded, they are still under the glass/plastic... the hoods are on the inside
