CF prices expected to skyrocket

http://www.tradingmarkets.com/.site/...0News/1794421/

Upwards to 30% price increase in raw CF materials from #1 and #3 of the top 3 manufacturers with the #2 planning so later this week. Expect prices to be handed down to the consumer.

Pick up your spoilers/accents/trim soon.

increase of $5-10 per ton....I don't plan on putting a metric ton of CF on my car so costs shouldn't be that bad.

I thought the same too until I talked to someone who did custom fabrication of hand laid CF.

Remember, it's a PERCENTAGE increase. No one here probably buys CF by the ton, but percentages scale.

These manufacturers will sell to wholesalers who will up the cost up who in turn sell to distributers, who then sell smaller batches to people who lay CF. Because these price increases are raised every single level due to logistical and material costs, they will cost us more in the end.

In other words, the companies who manufacture automotive parts in CF will take the biggest hit in the price increase. If it cost them 30% more to buy a small batch of material to make, it adds the cost of the final product even though production/testing/prototype still takes up the bulk of the cost.

It's basically like oil. Oil is relatively cheap until it hits the speculative market and when it gets to us, it's much more expensive than it should have been.

And maybe a tax credit for the hybrid!
