I have the MM as well -- yes, there is a volume difference and I have to remember to turn down the volume before switching to sirius or CD, etc else it will feel like I'm blowing my ears out. Apparently the volume difference is much worse in a vehicle equipped with the stock audio 20 instead of COMAND, but I can't fathom that with the volume differences I experience. Ugh.

Just got my Ipod amp installed, very happy with it...
Basically bring it back to the MB dealer service rep and let them know that the Ipod input produces poor quality sound compared to CDs. They will look it up and install the amp for you under warranty. I think it does make minor difference but not a whole lot for my car but still its better to have it then not...haha.
Thanks Junkfoodz for letting us know about the IPod amp or else I wouldnt have known about it. Thanks!!!

Schoo - Question, I called my dealer and he said it's probably already installed since I got an 09, but you have an 09 as well. I wonder if I should bring it in...

I have a 2009 and had IPOD installed at the dealer - they didn't put the amp in - so I have to have them put it in when I take the car in for its first service.

Killacam, just bring it in and talk to the service advisor and BS with them saying the Ipod has poor sound quality and have them check anyways, thats what I did and sure enough they put in the amp for me...
By the way, does anyone know if I can bring my c300 back to upgrade the speaker to the Harmon Kardon? I would love to have Harmon Kardon speakers in my car.

Most likely they can change the whole audio system including HK amplifier. This beast will cost you a fortune – MB uses MOST fiber optics cannel to connect all components and even simple device (like iPod adapter) are ridiculously expensive. So if the car did not come with all the systems pre-installed on the factory, then the labor will cost more than the H/W. I was offered Sat Radio install for W203 for just…$700 (plus H/W).Originally Posted by schoo510

I have the regular speakers on my C300, it does sound pretty good already but I'm just being greedy and want to upgrade it to the Harmon Kardon...
I think it will be worthed it if the upgrade to Harmon Kardon is 1k, I would consider, will call the dealer and find out.

but do you still notice a difference
in volume between ipod & cd/radio?
i'm still trying to figure out whether they installed the amp in my car.
(as it's a lease, i never saw an invoice)
quality of sound is good so no complaints there,
but volume a bit lower than cd/radio...

Actually, the ipod amp (MB part number A204 870 39 94) lists for 10 cents, so it isn't like the dealer is being incredibly magnanimous on this one. Installation couldn't take more than a .25 since it just plugs inline with the ipod cable.
