Went to my dealer yesterday and told them about the update for the gearbox and they were scratching there heads in confusion. They took it back and looked at it and i guess there is an update but not for the tranny. Theres an update for the engine. They updated it and its all good now.. So just take it in and tell them theres and update for the engine and to hook it up to the das and update it..

I just called the delaership and asked for an update on my car and the service advisor also said that they did an update. They still need to take it out on the road to verify the result.
Anyway, sounds promising... (not very impressed though with their service at Broadway)

Picked up my car (just reconfirmed that service is bad there, but thats another topic)
Here is what was done:
1) Performed DAS test: No codes
2) Check for bulletins/updates: None found
3) Check for engine leaks: None
4) Check fuel pressure: OK
5) Check for software update: Found. Prepare for software ME-9.7 installation
Service advisor informed me to "push down the gas pedal more"
Anyway, drove off and I cant really say that i notice much of an improvement. It is a bit hard to say because I did a reset last night. It actually seems more smoother if anything. I dont find it more responsive though. The SB will go back on

Hi djf1. Thanks for all the info.. I'm very ancious to make an appointment with the mercedes dealership at richmond automall for the "update". I don't wanna sound stupid because sometimes they do insult us in a way that make us feel like we are very stupid. Do you have the work order with your service advisor name on it? I want to make an appointment but I donno if I should and I am very busy.. dont have alot of time. I dont want to send my car there for nothing and wasting my time... Anyway, if you can, kindly enough, please let us know who your service advisor is? and the work order? if you cant thats ok. Still thank you alot with the information you have already provided

It was me, they updated the software and Flashed my transmission, dont know how it is in the us, but in Europe with all the emission regulations some have these problems. They Flashed my transmission and the problem is solved. But i have a 5 speed auto transmission.... dont know if it's possible by the 7 speed ??

So I drop off the car to the dealer for its first service. I note that the box sometimes shifts rough and to check it out. They gave me a B class loaner to drive, so I drive to work, that little thing seems to have a much faster throttle response than my C. Since I bought the car it had this annoying lag, almost like a turbo lag especially during kick down. I have read on the board that other had noticed it and started using the gearbox in manual mode which made things better. At any rate I call the service adviser and I tell her about the comparison and the lag issue. She said they will check it.
I come by to pick up my car at the end of the day and she tells me that they flushed the gearbox and reprogrammed it with a newer version from Mercedes. Driving the car home, was like driving a new car! The lag is GONE and it responds so much better! Could not be happier! So, if you guys experience the same issue, ask your dealer to reprogram your gearbox with the new version...

I took my car in for A Service last week and mentioned this problem. The service advisor told me that they did not have any software updates for the car....can you please post the work order? The WO should reference the new version. FYI. I am in West chester, PA.

Just got my car back.
According to my service adviser:
1. No Transmission Software update available
2. No ECU update available
I did get raped on my Service A ($340 tax included).
Even though she said they didn't perform any "fixes"-car seems to accelerate better and shifts are smoother. I don't think it's my imagination.
Oh well. I still love my car.

Remember that they determine programming updates based on VIN. It may only apply to some cars and not others.
All MBs have some hesitation built into the accelerator. In some instances it's very pronounced and dangerous, those are the one's I would guess that are being fixed.
Same issue existed in the past with 203s

Got mine updated today. The lag is still there but there is a noticable improvement. The second update was for the tranny and now the gear shifts are very very smooth. ( I got a 5 gear auto box not 7 )

Today was Service A for my car. I had a C300 loaner, much the same setup as mine (not P2, but same engine/tranny).
I asked them to check out the lag so they did a test drive, etc., and didn't find anything. (My car has a very noticeable lag in the early minutes of driving, especially when going uphill at speeds below 15 mph, but by the time it got to the dealer it was "warmed up". Since I'm normally going downhill at that point, this is a fairly mute issue.)
I also compared the loaner to my car. The loaner was a S. Africa car, and presumably had current software, etc. It felt maybe a bit quicker to respond, but still had a lag I'd associate with a turbo not yet kicking in. So maybe this is endemic to the C300 with auto?
They confirmed I have the latest software on my car. So no change, no improvement in the lag.
It struck me later than their test drive and way of testing for this lag was to mash the pedal down hard. At that point, there certainly is no lag because a sufficient supply of gas (more than enough, really) is suddenly available. I'm not trying to waste the gas, normally, so I press more lightly and that shows the lag more prominently. Aha!
As part of the conversation this morning, they suggested a fellow service rep who deals with aftermarket parts .... evidently they were thinking about a SprintBooster? Hmm.

If they actually referred to SB then would be interesting, I wonder why MB cant just fix the issue. It cant be very costly or difficult to modify the response time on the accelerator.
