Oil Change for my 2007 C230 Sport

Hi,

This is my first post, so let me start off by saying hi...

I bought my 2007 C230 Sport from a Ford dealer last week with 15k on the clock. Being that it was a Ford Dealer I am really not confident that they've put the correct oil in my car.. I know they done an oil change cos the buffoon who did it spilt a load down into the engine compartment, which caused me to think my new car that I was drivng back from just collecting was on fire !!!! Anyway after a good washout, I'm taking no chances.

I've gone out and bought 9quarts of Mobil 1 SAE 0-40 and a replacement oil filter from MB. I've not got a TopSider so I'm just going to drain from the sump..

What I'm struggling with is the oil filter.. I've pulled the front cover off, and its there alright, but I cannot for love nor money loosen the thing..

I'm guessing I'm going to need a special tool? I do have a universal oil filter removal tool that I've used for all my previous cars, but this doesn't fit..

There is an arrow in it pointing clockwise. I'm not sure if thats to signify loosening or tightning? Either way I've tried both ways with all my strengh and a gardening glove and no such luck...

What tool do I need and does this thing loosen clockwise or as one would image, anti clockwise?

Any advice appreciated.. Who'd of thought an oil change would be this challenging? Thankfully its only every 13,000 miles.

You can buy the cap-like removal tool at any auto supply store. It will require a 1/4" drive short extension and a 1/4" ratchet.

I think the filters are all the same, now. I used my Hazet on my '01 C320 and my '08 C300 plus a friend's 99 CLK430. Oh, and my '95 C280 and my 944.

Big enough sample?

C230
Hey guys,

I just did an oil change on my 2007 C230. When I drained the oil only 7 quarts came out after it completely drained I added 8.5 quarts of Mobil1 0W-40 but a day after when I checked the oil level it was WAY above the Max. I pumped about 1.5 qt. out and now its about the Max level. anyone have an explanation?
