should i pay >$100 and diy a headlight taillight from luminx?
or
should i pay ~$400 to have them professionally sprayed??
could i have long run short run advice for those whove done either??

sprayed is the way to go!
as long as you have seen their work before hand! trust me youll end up hating the diy, plus over time theyll peel and crack!

i would do Laminex you seen mine already. quality is very good and looks is amazing plus you can save your headlights from rock chips, bird poop, and bugs which i hate the most. it should cost you $60 for headlights and fogs. installing it you should take your time and dont worry about small bubbles they disappear in a week or two.
