Software Reprogram to kill side lamps

Hey everyone

I have a hypothetical question.
the Euro or Asia front bumper for the W204 does not have the amber side lamps cut out.

I wanted to know if buy the front bumper or fill in the side lamp area; weather there is a software or hardware out there that kills the lights.

my concern with the mod is that if I remove the lights, I may have it indicated on my dashboard.

and lastly if there is a way of doing it, will a regular auto shop have this equipment? or will I need to acquire one from Mercedes?

Why don't you just pop them out and drive around for a while to see if any warnings appear? One member did the mod you are talking about. He never mentioned having to reprogram anything.

I already removed and filled my lights removing the bulb will give an error message, you can use a resistor or do what i did there is a metal bracket behind the bumper you can stick the bulb and socket in.

thanks for your post!

I'll try to find that metal bracket. I assume its behind the black plastic casing?
so you basically kept the bulb still live and intact?

BTW how much did your overall project cost to have it filled?
and how long did it take to have that done?
that mod is pretty much what I want to do

Also noticed your in Brooklyn. Where did you have it done?

sorry for asking so many questions

if you are going to fill the hole on the bumper, just take the bulb and put it back on the sidemarker and stuff everything behind the wheel well cover. my 203's like that.

Thanks for the heads up!
I was thinking about doing that but I was worried weather the bulb may melt or start chewing into the fibers due to heat.
or what I would need to do when the bulb dies out.

if you are plugging it back to the sidemarker and then stuff it behind the cover it won't melt anything. all you have to do is change the bulb if it does burn out.

I actually own a Body shop in brooklyn, very well known over on Audiworld when I had my Widebody S4
our website is www.rojocollision.com
My email is Rojocollision@aol.com if you guys have any questions on the bumper mod shoot me an email.

As far as the bulb I first painted my sidemarkers before I removed and filled them when I put the bulb the painted marker it still shone trough orange which I didnt like so when I removed the skirt again I found the metal bracket which had a nice convience hole the buld and socket will fit in, i myself would worry if it were plastic. Also I have had this mod (bulbs under bumper) since last october when I picked up the car. with no problems to speak of.

some more pics : https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w204/251723-removed-sidemarkers-euro-style-pics.html

I guess I'm the only one here who wonders why you want to remove the lights in the first place? Oh well....

Thanks 01S408C300
to be honest I want to do this project on my future C63 AMG
and so I am preparing a list and doing my homework before I get the car.
I'll keep your info as future reference when I am ready to apply the project.
as well as adding a BU camera & maybe the Scratch Proof Ceramic Coat.

I dunno if you have the tinted, clear, painted or stock lamps on your car.

but at first I decided going with painting my lamps but the fact is there is still a bulge.
It looks flush from a distance but to be honest I like the euro look on this car where there is no disturbance in the flow of lines of the front fender to the arches of the front wheels.

furthermore some cops who have nothing else to do but look for a flaw, would look at that out of place bulge and assume its a side lamp; and would say "why did you paint it. You know its a violation?!"

so the bottom line is I like it for looks, and also if there is nothing that hints one from amusing that there is a modification done in the first place, there is nothing to comment.

You get the warning light but even if you dont just remeber there would be a live socket dangling around. Just hook them up with some resistors and your good to go
